THV11, the TEGNA-owned CBS affiliate, in Little Rock, Arkansas is looking for a proven leader to be an Executive Producer on our team. We need a creative and energetic journalist who can make sure our newscasts are the best in the market every day. The ideal candidate has excellent news judgment and strong management skills with the ability to motivate, collaborate and own the big story. That means helping producers and reporters create the most impactful and important content on strict deadlines, while also helping them grow and learn. The Executive Producer will also oversee a team of producers and work to execute the station’s news strategy.
This person must have the ability to teach others to elevate their skills and product and hold them accountable when needed. They should have the ability to manage big projects and take the lead and execute a vision on these projects including news specials, elections and changes to systems used in the newsroom.
Responsibilities:
• Use editorial judgment to help determine content of the newscasts.
• Work with team to create unique, fast-paced innovative newscasts and accurate information in both newscasts and on digital platforms
• Review, approve scripts, and provide writing/copy editing to rundowns to ensure accuracy and quality
• Ensure the news coverage meets our brand, policies, values, and FCC rules
• Ability to fill in and produce
• Make split-second decisions to lead the news team during breaking news and severe weather events
• Assist in training and providing valuable feedback for entire editorial team
• Execute administrative duties such as managing direct reports, creating schedules, and training new employees
Requirements:
• 5-7 Years producing experience
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field
• Excellent people management skills
• Strong decision making skills
• Story idea generator
• Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories.
• Passion for growing journalists and fostering a creative, positive, and collaborative newsroom
• Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news, and changing events
• Strong organization, planning skills and the ability to work under constant time-sensitive deadlines
