Position Summary
The Production Scheduler is responsible for creating and managing production schedules to support on-time delivery, efficient resource utilization, and compliance with aerospace quality and regulatory requirements. In a mid-sized aerospace manufacturing environment, this role is hands-on and highly collaborative, requiring close coordination with production, supply chain, engineering, and quality teams to respond quickly to changing priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and adjust daily and weekly production schedules based on customer demand, material availability, and capacity
- Release and prioritize work orders to the shop floor and ensure production readiness
- Actively monitor production progress, identify schedule risks, and implement recovery plans
- Coordinate with Purchasing and Supply Chain to address material shortages, lead-time changes, and supplier delays
- Work closely with Engineering and Quality to incorporate engineering changes, nonconformances, and inspection requirements into the schedule
- Balance capacity across work centers in a high-mix, low-volume environment
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date scheduling data within the ERP/MRP system
- Communicate schedule status, constraints, and priorities clearly to production supervisors and management
- Support compliance with AS9100, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory standards
- Participate in daily production meetings and continuous improvement activities
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a mid-sized or growth-oriented manufacturing company
- Aerospace manufacturing experience (machining, assembly, or special processes)
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives
- APICS / ASCM certification (CPIM or CSCP)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- 3+ years of production scheduling or production control experience in manufacturing (aerospace preferred)
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and scheduling logic
- Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows and shop floor operations
- Ability to manage frequent changes and competing priorities with minimal oversight
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
