Job Title: Director of Software Quality (Automotive/Semiconductor /Embedded systems experience is must)

Job Summary
The Director of Quality Assurance (Software) is a senior executive leader responsible for defining, governing, and advancing the organization’s enterprise software quality strategy. With 20+ years of experience, this role provides strategic oversight across quality engineering, test automation, API testing, compliance, and continuous improvement to ensure the delivery of secure, reliable, and scalable software products.
Experience in the automotive software domain (e.g., embedded systems, connected vehicles, infotainment, ADAS, AUTOSAR, or mobility platforms) is considered a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Quality Strategy & Governance
- Define and own the long-term enterprise software quality vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with business objectives.
- Establish and govern quality management systems, standards, and policies across enterprise and product platforms.
Software Quality Assurance & Automation
- Provide executive oversight of all testing activities including functional, regression, integration, system, performance, security, and User Acceptance testing
- Contribute to enterprise test automation strategy,
- Ensure automated test suites are scalable, maintainable, and integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
- Promote shift-left and quality engineering practices across Agile and DevOps teams.
Test Planning & Test Case Governance
- Define enterprise-level test planning frameworks for Semiconductor, Automotive API.
- Ensure test plans include scope, objectives, environments, entry/exit criteria, dependencies, and risk assessments.
- Establish standards for test case and API test design ensuring traceability, reusability, and automation readiness.
- Review release readiness and provide quality sign-off for major product releases.
- Validate data integrity, interoperability, and backward compatibility across systems.
- Exposure with Cybersecurity is plus.
Compliance, Risk & Regulatory Oversight
- Automotive domain exposure may include compliance with ISO 26262, ASPICE, ISO 9001 or related standards.
- Lead audit readiness, regulatory inspections, and quality risk mitigation initiatives.
Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defect leakage and improve automation ROI.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) programs HARA/TARA.
- Champion modern testing approaches, including automation optimization and API-driven testing.
Customer Experience & Product Excellence
- Monitor customer feedback, production incidents, and quality metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
- Ensure customer-centric quality outcomes such as reliability, usability, performance, and safety.
Leadership & Organizational Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop senior QA leaders, automation architects, and global QA teams.
- Build scalable QA organizations capable of supporting enterprise, cloud, and automotive platforms.
- Foster a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous learning.
Communication & Analytics
- Present quality performance, automation coverage, Test Results, and risk assessments to executive leadership and the board.
- Define enterprise QA KPIs and dashboards using test management, CI/CD.
- Leverage analytics and business intelligence tools to support data-driven decisions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field
- 20+ years of progressive experience in software quality assurance and quality engineering. (Embedded systems experience is must).
- Strong experience with: Automation Test Framework, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Deep understanding of SDLC, Agile, and enterprise QA governance.
- Experience in the automotive software domain (embedded systems, connected vehicles, ADAS, infotainment, mobility platforms).
- Familiarity with automotive quality standards such as ASPICE, ISO 26262, ISO 9001.
- Knowledge of performance, security, and safety-critical testing.
