Description
Maintains and cares for the campus grounds.
This is a full-time, benefits eligible, hourly position with a hiring range of $19.92 - $24.40 per hour.
Core Responsibilities:
- Operates equipment for summer and winter grounds maintenance; removes litter and debris from campus grounds.
- Plants, waters, weeds, prunes and mulches flower beds and shrub and tree beds.
- Sets up grounds for commencement and other major college events; prepares athletic fields for games, including marking fields and equipment setup.
- Aerates, overseeds, weeds, fertilizes, mows, rakes and maintains turf areas.
- Assists in snow removal from steps, roads and walkways as assigned.
- Performs preventative maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Performs all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures; works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors.
- Performs associated facilities service maintenance work as requested, including, but not limited to: plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting.
Requirements
- High school diploma helpful. Vocational background preferable.
- Must have knowledge of proper use of equipment. Some knowledge of horticulture, turf care, equipment, and landscape maintenance.
- Driver's license, clean driving record, and good driving skills required.
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills required; ability to work in a team environment or independently as required.
- 1-2 years experience in lawn and landscape maintenance.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Ability to work Saturdays and Sundays as part of a regular or rotating work shift. Must be available to work flexible shifts and overtime if necessary. Position requires frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, bending, twisting, climbing, and sitting in equipment for extended periods.
