Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Additional certifications in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or Materials Management will be considered an added advantage.
Experience Requirements:
- 5 to 10 years of relevant procurement experience in heavy engineering, EPC, or manufacturing environments, preferably within combustion systems, fired equipment, process equipment, or pressure vessel industries.
- Proven exposure to procurement of raw materials and bought-out items such as plates, pipes, structural steel, forgings, fasteners, welding consumables, gaskets, and fittings.
- Hands-on experience working with approved vendor lists (AVL), RFQ processes, bid evaluations, and PO finalization.
- Experience in supporting fabrication-driven projects with tight delivery schedules and cost controls.
Technical & Functional Skills:
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, BOMs, material requisitions (MRs), and technical delivery conditions (TDCs).
- Working knowledge of international material and fabrication standards such as ASTM, ASME, API, ISO, DIN, and EN.
- Familiarity with quality documentation, including Mill Test Certificates (MTCs), EN 10204 (3.1 / 3.2), and basic material traceability requirements.
- Exposure to vendor negotiations, commercial terms, Incoterms, payment terms, and delivery clauses.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with Engineering, Planning, Quality, Inspection, and Estimation teams.
- Experience in expediting materials, tracking delivery schedules, and resolving supply-chain-related issues.
- Competency in maintaining material cost databases and providing reliable costing inputs to proposal and estimation teams.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP / Oracle or equivalent) and strong working knowledge of MS Excel for bid tabulation and cost analysis.
Key responsibilities included:
- Interpreting Material Requisitions (MRs), BOMs, drawings, and technical specifications issued by engineering for fired and pressure equipment.
- Issuing RFQs to approved and technically qualified vendors, obtaining compliant offers, and performing commercial and technical bid evaluations.
- Ensuring materials met critical parameters such as chemical composition, mechanical properties, high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and service suitability for combustion applications.
- Coordinating with engineering, quality, and inspection teams to ensure compliance with code requirements (ASME Section II, ASME Section VIII, API 560/537 where applicable).
- Managing procurement of specialized welding consumables (electrodes, wires, fluxes) aligned with WPS/PQR requirements for high-temperature and alloy materials.
- Ensuring complete material traceability, including review and approval of Mill Test Certificates (MTCs), EN 10204 (3.1/3.2) documentation, and heat-number traceability.
- Supporting third-party inspections (TPI) and client witness inspections for critical materials.
- Monitoring supplier manufacturing schedules, expediting deliveries, and ensuring on-time availability of materials to meet fabrication and project timelines.
- Maintaining procurement within approved budgets while ensuring quality, compliance, and lifecycle reliability of combustion equipment.
