We are actively seeking an experienced Construction Manager. This role demands a deep understanding of federal construction regulations, exceptional management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders in a mission-driven environment. This role is responsible for managing mechanical upgrades involving central plant systems, cooling towers, and associated mechanical infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience overseeing the installation, testing, commissioning, and turnover of large-scale mechanical systems in occupied and mission-critical environments.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills
- 10–15 years of progressive construction management experience with a strong focus on mechanical systems.
- Proven experience managing central plants, chilled-water distribution, cooling towers, pumps, and large-scale HVAC installations.
- Demonstrated success working in occupied, high-security, or mission-critical facilities .
- Strong understanding of mechanical construction means, methods, sequencing, and commissioning processes.
- Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders, including designers, facility personnel, and commissioning teams.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong documentation and reporting capabilities.
- Ability to lead field operations independently in a fast-paced, technically complex environment.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide daily onsite construction management and field leadership for mechanical and central plant system upgrades.
- Oversee subcontractors and trade partners performing work on central plants, chilled-water systems, cooling towers, pumps, and large-capacity HVAC systems.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with contract documents, safety requirements, quality standards, and project schedules.
- Coordinate closely with design teams, facility engineers, commissioning agents, and owner representatives.
- Manage multi-phase construction sequencing in occupied and operational facilities.
- Review and resolve field technical issues, RFIs, and constructability challenges.
- Track progress, review schedules, and support recovery plans as needed.
- Ensure proper testing, commissioning, documentation, and system turnover.
- Maintain detailed daily reports, field documentation, and closeout records.
- Lead construction activities from preconstruction through final closeout.
