Description

The Fleet Specialist is responsible for overseeing the efficient operation and maintenance of the company's fleet of vehicles. This role involves supporting vehicle inventory, coordinating maintenance and repairs, ensuring compliance with regulations, and optimizing fleet performance.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

Safety

  • Ensure all vehicles comply with safety, emissions, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Stay updated on relevant regulations and standards governing fleet operations.
  • Ability to safely operate any and all company assets (vehicles, heavy equipment, etc)

 

Technical Acumen

  • Maintain accurate records of all company vehicles, including registration, insurance, and maintenance history.
  • Schedule routine maintenance and inspections for all fleet vehicles.
  • Coordinate repairs and service with external vendors or in-house mechanics.
  • Skillset on a computer to use technology as an efficient means of fleet support.

 

Financial Management

  • Understand, monitor, and control fleet-related expenses, including maintenance, repairs, and fuel costs.
  • Prepare and maintain budgets for vehicle acquisition, maintenance, and operating costs.

 Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities to enhance fleet efficiency.
  • Provide recommendations to management based on analysis and insights

Quality Control

  • Ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain documentation and records to demonstrate compliance with regulations.

 

Sustainability

  • Monitor fuel usage, mileage, and vehicle utilization to optimize fleet efficiency

Project Execution

  • Coordinate vehicle acquisitions, disposals, and transfers as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fleet management preferred.
  • Knowledge of fleet management software and systems.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for vehicle operations.
  • Relevant fleet management certifications (e.g., CAFM, CAFS, OSHA, DOT compliance, ASE) preferred.
  • Experience with telematics systems for vehicle tracking and monitoring.
  • Knowledge of environmental and sustainability practices in fleet operations.
