AccuWeather is seeking two Forecasting Interns to join the Forecasting Team at our State College, Pennsylvania, Headquarters for Summer 2026. This exciting and hands-on internship provides the opportunity to contribute directly to AccuWeather’s mission of delivering forecasts with Superior Accuracy™ to millions of users worldwide, with the goal of saving lives and protecting property.
As a Forecasting Intern, you will play an active role in producing impact-driven forecasts for all types of weather, helping consumers make the best, most informed decisions. Working alongside our team of expert meteorologists, you’ll contribute to our consensus forecasting approach, offering insights that enhance forecasts across the United States and around the globe. There will also be opportunities to collaborate on projects that analyze a past impactful weather event and evaluate AccuWeather’s forecasting tools and processes, as well as learn from meteorologists across various departments.
This paid internship spans approximately 10 weeks from late May 2026 to early/mid-August 2026 and requires a commitment of approximately 40 hours per week.
This posting will close on Monday, February 2, 2026. Interviews will be conducted during the second week of February.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with forecasters to continually enhance and refine AccuWeather’s forecast database.
- Participate in daily map discussions and contribute to the forecast consensus process.
- Prepare various client-specific products and forms.
- Develop graphics that visually communicate the weather story across the United States.
- Create and present a case study analyzing an impactful weather event.
- Complete a project related to AccuWeather’s forecasting tools and processes.
- Attend educational training seminars.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Full-time junior or senior student (graduating December 2026 or May 2027) enrolled in a meteorology or atmospheric science program.
- Solid understanding of meteorology and how the weather operates.
- Currently enrolled or has previously taken a forecasting course.
- Involvement in various campus activities that involve forecasting, such as Campus Weather Service, doing forecasts for the campus newspaper, radio, TV, and/or website, forecasting contests.
- Excellent people and communication skills.
- Strong desire to learn.
