About the Department
Colonial Behavioral Health provides opportunities for recovery to individuals and their family members in the areas of mental illness, substance use disorder, and developmental disabilities. Colonial Behavioral Health serves the citizens of James City County, City of Poquoson, City of Williamsburg, and York County.
Colonial Behavioral Health is seeking a Manager- MH/SA Case Management Services is responsible for providing the daily management and operation of MH/SA Case Management and provides supervision to Case Managers as well as provides direct case management to consumers with mental illness and/or co-occurring substance use disorders.
Position Duties
- Ensures program meets the state licensure and Medicaid operating procedures on a daily basis, to include adherence to agency and program procedures regarding health and safety, human rights, service documentation and established general operating procedures.
- Provides direct supervision to the MH Case Mangers and evaluates work performance on an ongoing basis.
- Displays case load management skill: prioritization of multiple responsibilities, effective use of time management techniques, and adaptability to meet changing consumer service needs in order to fulfill required case management duties.
- Provides information and referral services to potential applicants and other CBH staff regarding MH-SA case management services.
- Performs psychosocial assessments and reviews based upon skillful observation and interviewing during the course of service delivery by obtaining current and historical information relevant to the functioning of the consumer.
- Uses the assessments and reviews to develop a written plan of service delivery which includes consumer input and feedback.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Skill in managing, supervising, leading, training, and supporting, and monitoring MH-SA Case Managers Performance of psychosocial assessment based upon skillful observation and interviewing during the course of service delivery by obtaining historical and current relevant information concerning consumer functioning.
- Development of written service plan of needs, goals, objectives, and interventions which includes consumer input and is based upon assessment.
- Knowledge of mental illness and/or ID symptoms including etiology, effects, resulting limitations, while providing interventions through case management activity or referral to other providers for these disorders
- Ability to maintain an objective, professional and calm relationship with individuals and groups in a stressful situation
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience in case management, mental health and substance use disorders required.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- Bachelor's Degree in a human services field required.
