About the team

PPL’s Repertoire team are experts when it comes to music data. Through managing the PPL Repertoire Database, they provide services and analysis on data submitted by PPL Members and Licensees to ensure that requirements set out in the PPL Data Policy are met. Their work ensures that we can maximise revenue generation and pay-through. The Repertoire team also works to resolve key data gaps at source wherever possible, as well as promoting industry standards and working on international projects to improve music data quality.

What you’ll be doing:

To support the Repertoire Reporting & Analysis Manager in delivering high quality reporting and analysis of repertoire data to the business, increasing its awareness and understanding of patterns and issues within this data. The role will involve working with licensees and rightsholders to improve the quality of data registrations and PPL’s distributions to its members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To work under the direction of your manager to deliver a high quality regular and ad hoc reporting and analytics service to the business, enabling key statistics and insights to be identified clearly, quickly and accurately

  • To complete regular quality assurance tasks relating to airplay and repertoire data being used for UK and Business Services distributions

  • To complete compilation of genre surrogates data for use in PPL distributions as regularly as the operational plan requires

  • Proactive use of third party data from our music industry data sources to complete quality assurance tasks

  • To analyse and interpret licensee music returns data in order to identify trends, patterns and anomalies and to drive communication of issues for resolution

  • To investigate apparently anomalous, incorrect or incomplete data in order to identify the root causes and any remedial actions required

  • To proactively raise system or technology issues with line manager and Technology team to prevent bottlenecks of data problems

  • To use music usage data to provide recommendations to Finance and Client Services on performer and rightsholder advances

  • To provide charts, statistics and relevant commentary to PPL’s Communications team in order to create press and media opportunities

  • To contribute to tracking of risks that arise from data management processes within the Repertoire team

  • To proactively make use of ADP and new technologies in order to automate workflows and improve efficiency

What you’ll need:

  • Experience of working in a complex, high volume, data analysis and reporting environment
  • Experience of producing analytical and reporting outputs
  • Proficient user of database systems such as Snowflake and able to design Snowflake and SQL queries
  • Adept in research skills (thorough analysis of primary and secondary data, identifying and delivering to stakeholder requirements in timelines required)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
