What's the role

You will be joining the Production Operations Upstream discipline which is involved in all phases of the asset lifecycle. The activities are focused on maximizing profits by optimizing production and minimizing deferments while protecting long term asset integrity.

The new SEAM organization integrates Safety, Environment & Asset Management activities, with a broad geographical footprint, that will support Shell’s business & assets around the world.

  • shaping the future ways of working through introducing new technology and new ways of working to the business, including digital, SBO, and real-time, data-driven, end-to-end optimization and risk management, but also global programs like Human Performance Based Safety Philosophy

  • providing performance feedback, driving disciplined execution to deliver reliable, predictable results

  • helping the businesses build their improvement plans and provide support to execute them

  • sustaining performance through strong core capabilities (internal, including SBO & contingent) through building expertise and a company-wide consistent approach

The VP TAS will be accountable for maximizing integrated business value across the organization. Technical Asset Support (TAS) is a key enabler for the accelerated delivery of Shell’s Asset Management System and will help us to reach our ultimate potential in Downstream Manufacturing, Integrated Gas and Upstream. TAS provides high quality and cost-competitive technical resources who are not physically present at site yet are an integral part of asset teams delivering value through end-to-end AMS work processes.

This role is intended to support the asset’s PTM journey by providing technical expertise and leadership in the control valve/instrumentation condition monitoring area.

What you'll be doing

  • Accountable for frontline instruments and control valve monitoring via AI based ML models or any such available tools.

  • Support Shell assets in improving reliability through monitoring of facilities and equipment and prevent unscheduled deferments.

  • Responsible for troubleshooting and solving instruments and control valve issues.

  • Develop a plan to integrate PTM workflow with other processes to enhance integrated value delivery.

  • Responsible for maintaining the number of services generated with no value to a minimum through regular reviews and engagement.

  • Support developing technical specifications

  • Manage various stakeholders’ expectations with respect to the deliverables in PdM, improve the penetration via looking for opportunities.

  • Supporting the Team leads in identifying opportunities for cross-learning, standardization, and optimization between the PTM teams and other TAS verticals , including ways of working and resource sharing, to deliver on the overarching priorities of TAS.

  • Look for digital innovations and integration with Digital twin.

  • Provide technical support to a team of engineers who design, develop, configure, test, deploy, and support AI based machine learning models for Predictive Maintenance.

Dimensions

  • This role is expected to provide Predictive Maintenance activity support to Shell’s Upstream, Downstream and Integrated Gas in improving reliability by preventing unscheduled deferment through monitoring of ML models.

  • Support assets in achieving their KPIs through monitoring – help in improving process efficiency, reliability, health of equipment and over all process

What you bring

  • Preferably with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Instrumentation or Chemical Engineering.

  • Preferably with at least 2 years of working experience in operation/maintenance erection & commissioning in Oil & Gas / Petrochemicals Industry

  • Good hands-on knowledge in field instrumentation like Smart Transmitters, Control valves, Sensors for flow, pressure, level, temperature etc.

  • Knowledge in DCS, PLC, ESD system. Overview of architecture, control logic, cause and effect diagrams

  • Proficient in reading P&IDs and good understanding of process narratives and manuals

  • Good discipline knowledge and should be able to practically apply in the PTM process.

  • Proficiency in real time data, Advance skills in MS excel, smart platforms and applications etc., will be an advantage

  • Flexibility to move quickly across changing priorities and manage multiple Projects/Program

  • Ability to engage and effectively communicate at all levels inside and outside Shell and within different cultural settings.

  • Strong aptitude for Learner Mindset

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to challenge and ability to build internal and external relationships based on trust and to integrate across multiple functions.

  • Effective communication skills and stakeholder management are necessary skills for the job
