Job Summary:

This role is critical for enhancing the reliability and efficiency of our mainframe system. The primary focus will be on developing and maintaining solutions to provide incident reduction and increased stability through automation handling of system events and alerting.  Your expertise will help ensure smooth, uninterrupted operation of our mainframe systems to reduce risk and enhance productivity.

Job Duties

• · Develop and maintain tools and solutions, written in REXX/CLIST, to support operational functions and efficiency
• · Administer event-driven management system (BMC AMI OPS Automation) to generate automated responses to system events and provide alerts to various monitoring systems
• · Manage the automated shut down and startup of IPL using BMC AMI OPS
• · Collaborate with team and other department members to understand automation requirements
• · Analyze and suggest improvements to mainframe automation architecture to drive continuous improvement to optimize performance and maintainability 
• · Provide/maintain documentation for automated solutions and standards
• · Work with vendors for system support / problem resolution
• · Participate in business continuance planning/testing/execution
• · Participate in technical operations on-call support rotation to provide triage, technical analysis, problem resolution.

Skills Required:

• · 10+ years of functional IBM z/OS systems experience, specifically related to operating systems in a sysplex environment.
• · Experience in automation tools like BMC AMI OPS
• · High level of proficiency in developing/maintaining REXX/CLIST programs on mainframe with structured methodologies.
• · Understanding of REXX/CLIST interfaces into z/OS subsystems/services such as SDSF, DB2.
• · Comprehensive understanding of key z/OS areas including JES2, console messaging, MVS commands, etc.
• · Proficiency in TSO, ISPF, JCL and SDSF.
• · Ability to work and collaborate in team environment

 Secondary Skills (Good to have)

• - COBOL and Assembler

Understanding of major subsystems like CICS, MQ, DB2, Zeke
