Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 5×8 Days (0730–1630)
Pay: $2,644/week
Completion Bonus: $2,500 per contract (up to $7,500 after three contracts)
Position Overview
ATC Healthcare is seeking an experienced Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse (RN) for a travel assignment in Omaha, Nebraska. This role involves caring for patients undergoing a variety of diagnostic and interventional procedures, including embolizations, carotid stenting, and thrombectomies. The IR department consists of one procedural suite supported by IR and Neuro IR technologists, with a strong interdisciplinary team environment.
Nurses in this role will assist with moderate sedation, monitor hemodynamics, support Neuro IR cases, float within the Radiology department as needed, and participate in a rotating call schedule. This position requires adaptability, strong critical-care skills, and comfort working in a fast-paced, high-acuity procedural setting.
Candidates must pass an open-book clinical skills exam during orientation (90% required). Failure to pass results in contract termination per facility policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized nursing care to patients undergoing IR procedures, ensuring safety throughout pre-, intra-, and post-procedure phases.
- Assist with diagnostic and interventional procedures including embolizations, carotid stents, and thrombectomies.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, administer medications, and monitor procedural sedation.
- Monitor and interpret hemodynamics and procedural responses; document care accurately in Epic.
- Set up procedural rooms, maintain sterile technique, and operate Siemens Artis Icono equipment.
- Collaborate with IR technologists, Neuro IR technologists, physicians, and anesthesia teams to coordinate care.
- Float to Radiology areas as needed—IV starts, patient transport, file room support.
- Support additional IR cases at nearby locations during scheduled shifts if stroke alerts or emergent procedures arise.
- Adhere to infection control and safety standards, including the no-artificial-nails policy.
- Participate in call rotation (10–13 days per month, including weekends and holidays).
- Complete two weeks of department-specific orientation before assuming full duties.
Qualifications
- Active RN license (any state acceptable unless restricted; must meet 50-mile radius rule).
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in IR, ICU, or ER.
- Neuro experience preferred.
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (PALS preferred).
- Must pass the required pass/fail clinical skills exam (90% minimum) during orientation.
- Strong procedural nursing skills, including moderate sedation and hemodynamic monitoring.
- EMR proficiency; Epic experience required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license for radius verification (must reside >50 miles).
- Must not have been employed in any capacity at CHI, Dignity, or any CommonSpirit facility within the past year.
- Flexibility, professionalism, strong teamwork mindset, and ability to work with diverse patient populations.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required.
