Position Overview

Sacramento Ultrasound Institute (SUI) is seeking an experienced healthcare leaders with strong knowledge of Sutter Health’s imaging, cardiology, or clinical operations to serve as a Clinical Workforce Integration Consultant. This 6-month role is designed to align SUI’s diagnostic imaging programs with Sutter Health’s workforce needs and operational standards.

The consultant will evaluate clinical workflows, competency expectations, and workforce requirements, and will identify where SUI’s curriculum, skills training, and clinical preparation do not fully align with Sutter’s expectations. The consultant will also identify Sutter facilities that have been hesitant or reluctant to work with SUI and will help rebuild those relationships by clarifying expectations, improving communication, and demonstrating program alignment. This is a part-time engagement (5–10 hours per month) compensated through a monthly retainer.


SUI is seeking to hire one consultant per program - Sonography, Cardiac Sonography, ICVT, MRI, and Radiologic Technology to ensure specialty-specific alignment with Sutter Health’s clinical expectations.


Key Responsibilities


Workforce Alignment & Strategic Advising

  • Provide direct recommendations on skills, competencies, behaviors, and readiness standards required for students entering Sutter clinical environments.
  • Identify gaps between SUI’s current preparation and Sutter’s operational needs.
  • Propose clear, actionable solutions to improve alignment and strengthen workforce readiness.




Curriculum & Competency Review

  • Review SUI curricula across Sonography, Cardiac Sonography, ICVT, MRI, and Radiologic Technology.
  • Identify where curriculum, lab competencies, or clinical objectives do not meet Sutter expectations.
  • Recommend updates to connect academic instruction to Sutter workflows, protocols, and competency checklists.




Clinical Placement Pipeline Development

  • Identify Sutter facilities suitable for student rotations based on program and competency needs.
  • Recommend rotation structures and competency expectations aligned with Sutter standards.




Site Relationship Repair & Re-engagement

  • Identify Sutter sites or leaders who have historically declined, resisted, or discontinued collaboration with SUI.
  • Determine the reasons for reluctance and provide recommendations to address concerns.
  • Support efforts to re-establish trust, demonstrate alignment, and bring these sites back into the clinical placement network.




Advisory Board Participation

  • Serve on SUI’s Program Advisory Board for assigned disciplines.
  • Provide insights that support accreditation, program quality, and continuous improvement.




Monthly Strategy Collaboration

  • Participate in monthly strategy meetings with SUI leadership.
  • Deliver feedback, identify alignment gaps, and provide targeted recommendations based on system needs and clinical trends.




Executive-Level Preparation

  • Assist with development of executive presentations, alignment reports, and partnership proposals.
  • Provide input on messaging and strategy for a joint SUI–Sutter workforce plan to be delivered during Month 6.
  • Support communication across both organizations to ensure consistent expectations.
