The opportunity:
VCGS is seeking a passionate and experienced Clinical Geneticist to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team in a part time capacity. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering world-class clinical genetics services across Melbourne, regional Victoria, and interstate locations.
The successful candidate will provide expert clinical care across paediatric and adult settings, contribute to genomic medicine initiatives and clinical research, and play an active role in teaching and supervision of trainees and genetic counsellors.
Your responsibilities include:
As a Clinical Geneticist at VCGS, you will:
- Conduct two clinical sessions per week, including regional outreach as needed.
- Provide expert supervision and mentorship to Associate Genetic Counsellors, Clinical Fellows, and students.
- Contribute to pre- and post-clinic meetings to ensure optimal patient care.
- Maintain up-to-date medical genetics knowledge through active participation in education and training programs.
- Collaborate closely with VCGS laboratories, with a focus on genomics and test development.
- Participate in teaching programs for medical students, physician trainees, and genetic counselling students.
- Contribute to clinical research, representing VCGS at national and international scientific meetings
What we need from you:
You are a collaborative and compassionate clinician with:
- Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (or equivalent).
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) with advanced training in Clinical Genetics, or equivalent.
- Current AHPRA medical registration.
- Demonstrated expertise in paediatric and adult clinical genetics and applied genomic medicine.
- A commitment to teaching, mentorship, and continuous professional development.
