The Opportunity
Moonee Valley City Council is seeking a dedicated Project Manager to join our Engineering and Capital Works Department within the Service Delivery Directorate. This role is responsible for the effective delivery of assigned capital works projects from concept through to completion including design, documentation, permits and approvals, construction, and contract administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of multiple capital works projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
- Oversee design development, procurement, tendering, and contract administration processes.
- Coordinate consultants and contractors to ensure compliance with agreed design specifications, safety standards, and Council policies.
- Prepare and monitor project budgets, financial reports, and funding allocations.
- Provide timely and accurate project updates, reports, and executive briefings.
- Liaise and collaborate with internal teams, contractors, consultants, community groups, and external agencies to ensure clear communication and positive working relationships.
- Develop and implement innovative solutions to complex design and construction challenges, promoting cost efficiency and timely decision-making.
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will bring relevant tertiary qualifications in project management, engineering, landscape architecture, or a related field, supported by practical experience managing design and construction projects. You’ll demonstrate strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise, and deliver multiple projects within agreed timeframes and budgets. Your communication and negotiation skills will enable you to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, consultants, and contractors. A sound understanding of design and construction principles, budgeting and procurement processes, and contract management is essential. Experience in the delivery of open space, public realm and/or community infrastructure projects will be highly regarded.
