SUMMARY
This position is responsible for securing, organizing, maintaining, monitoring, and ensuring the availability of health records to those who need and/or request them.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)
- Conduct quality analysis of medical records according to department policy and procedure, ensuring that all chart deficiencies are entered appropriately into the system.
- Safeguard and protect the patients rights to privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to the patients medical information and that all release of information are in compliance with the request, authorization, company policy and HIPAA statutes
- Answer telephone, receive and fulfill telephone and correspondence requests according to department release of information policy and procedure.
- Maintain accurate documentation of provider activities to provide statistics to the Medical Record Utilization Review Committee regarding any deficient and delinquent providers in compliance with hospital bylaws and federal agency regulations.
- Prepare statistical reports for the Iowa Hospital Association on a quarterly basis by collecting and summarizing medical care and census information, such as types of diseases treated, surgery performed, and use of hospital beds.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Previous Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience.
- Previous clerical experience preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and information security in accordance to HIPAA and WCHCs policies.

- Proficient in medical terminology and anatomy.
