Job Summary:
In collaboration with the Service Line Director and unit Manager, the RN Clinical Coordinator is responsible for the daily departmental operations, and ensures and delivers high quality, patient-centered care and coordination of all functions in the unit/department during the designated shift. Provides shift supervision and day to day management of clinical nursing practice, patient care delivery, human, fiscal and other resources, development of personnel, compliance with regulatory and professional standards, issue resolution and fostering interdisciplinary collaborative relationships within the Department and the organization as a whole. Consistently models commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.
Licensure and Certification:
- Current California RN License
- Current BLS provider card through American Heart Association
- National Certification in clinical area of expertise preferred
Additional Licensure and Certification (ICU/DOU):
- Current ACLS Provider
- Current PALS Provider (DOU only)
- Current NIHSS Certification
Education:
- AA degree, Bachelor’s/Master’s preferred
- Member in professional organization preferred
Experience:
- Two (2) years current acute care nursing experience.
- One (1) year progressive charge nurse experience
Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent intradepartmental communication skills and interaction with patients and their families; hospital and medical staff.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective two-way communication skills (listening and speaking); strong interpersonal skills with staff, physicians, patients and their significant others.
- Strong leadership and critical reasoning skills in clinical decision-making, planning and organizing, initiative and ingenuity, creativity, independent decision-making, problem solving, and ability to interpret data.
- Ability to work effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams toward achieving a common goal in accordance with established timelines.
Physical Demands – Patient Care:
- Continuous standing/walking and occasional/intermittent sitting.
- Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and shoulder level to handle/operate medical equipment/devices.
- Frequent reaching above shoulder level and overhead.
- Frequent forward bending, twisting, squatting and kneeling; occasional climbing.
- Occasional repositioning and transferring patients weighing up to 200 pounds between bed, chair, and gurney.
- Occasional lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Occasional/intermittent pushing of gurneys, wheelchairs, bed and other medical equipment over tiled and carpeted surfaces.
- Continuous use of near vision to read medical equipment such as monitoring devices and reading documents and computer screens; hearing and verbal communication to interact with patients, co-workers, and other customers.
