JOB SUMMARY

The Residence Manager is responsible for the operation of the residence, for establishing and maintaining the therapeutic milieu, for the clinical supervision of staff, for intake, treatment and discharge planning, for on-site staff training and for liaison with off-site treatment providers. The manager is ultimately responsible for the general maintenance of the facility, i.e., ensuring that there are recreational monies, allowance, clothing supplies, etc., for the counselors and residents to use. He/she is responsible for submitting requests for repairs and/or other necessities to proper channels.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The Residence Manager is directly responsible for the supervision of all full-time, part-time, and per diem childcare staff. He/she is available to staff as a role model and will provide supervision on a regular basis. He/she will provide consultation and clinical supervision to direct care staff to ensure that effective treatment procedures are implemented.
  • The manager is responsible for ensuring that there is sufficient coverage on all shifts. He/she is on call on a twenty-four-hour-day basis, should there be inadequate coverage for any given shift, and the need cannot be filled.
  • The manager is responsible for keeping the Assistant Director or Director of Group Homes fully informed regarding all matters pertaining to the Community Residence.
  • The manager participates in monitoring all childcare staff time and leave. He/she is responsible for reviewing Paycom on a consistent basis for signing off before the Assistant Director.
  • The manager is involved in the preparation and presentation of staff evaluations leading to the retention or dismissal of staff.
  • The manager orients and coordinates the training of all childcare staff.
  • The manager collaborates on the development of treatment plans with direct care staff and others involved with the child’s placement and treatment.
  • The manager evaluates treatment and care of children and maintains records on each placement.
  • The manager is to work closely with psychiatrists, nurses and other mental health service providers. The manager directly supervises the Assistant Residence Manager.
  • The manager is to review the house budget and other administrative tasks.
  • The manager establishes and enhances the therapeutic milieu.
  • The manager oversees all record keeping in relation to all clinical agency issues and supervision of all records of other staff.
  • The manager is responsible for the completion of the Quality Assurance and Annual Report.
  • The manager is responsible for maintaining continued communication and working relationships with the Mental Health community, local and statewide, by attending regularly scheduled meetings that are appropriate.
  • The manager is an integral part of the team. He/she provides feedback regarding a youngster’s behavior and adjustment and participates in short term and long-term planning.
  • The manager is responsible for attending team conferences and planning meetings.
  • The manager is responsible for ensuring that all youngsters’ medical and dental needs are met.
  • Confers and maintains effective contracts and exchanges information with social workers, guidance counselors, teachers, dental and medical personnel, and other people associated with protecting and promoting each youth’s social, mental, physical, emotional and spiritual training, development and overall general welfare.
  • The manager is further responsible for the implementation of agency policy in the residence.
  • The manager is responsible for ensuring that staff maintains thorough daily logs, accurate records of expenditures, clothing inventories and the facilities census.
  • The manager is responsible for ensuring that staff adheres to all therapy/recreation schedules as established by youngsters, staff and the therapist.
  • The manager also has all the other regular direct care responsibilities. · The manager is responsible for overseeing the duties and functioning of the Assistant Residence Manager and the Senior Childcare staff, ensuring that appropriate management and supervision is available seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
  • Any other related duties as required.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. An employee in this position is regularly required to stand; walk, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; talk and listen, and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to walk.  The employee is occasionally required to keep balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Computer – The Residence Manager must be able to use a computer and able to learn software programs
  • Office Equipment- The Residence Manager is required to operate a fax, copier, scan, and other office equipment.
  • Communication - The Residence Manager needs to be able to speak, read and write fluently in the English language
  • Writing - The Residence Manager must be able to write in the English language using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.
  • Lifting - The Residence Manager may frequently lift 0-25 lbs., occasionally lift 25-50 lbs., and rarely lift over 50 lbs.
  • Push/Pull - The Residence Manager may frequently push/pull 0-25 lbs. of force, occasionally push/pull 26-45 lbs. force, and rarely push/pull over 45 lbs.
  • Sitting, Standing and Walking – The Residence Manager will be required to sit, stand and walk throughout the workday.
  • Stooping -The Residence Manager may occasionally stoop.  This is defined as bending body downward by bending spine at the waist.
  • Kneeling -The Residence Manager may occasionally kneel.  This is defined as bending legs at knees to come to rest on knee(s).
  • Crouching - The Residence Manager may occasionally crouch.  This is defined as bending body downward and forward by bending spine and legs.
  • Work environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate due to talk and movement of the program participants and other co-workers.  The noise level can increase on occasion due to yelling or screaming by the participants of the programs.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Masters level mental health professional preferred. Bachelor’s Degree required. Candidates will have experience working with seriously emotionally disturbed children and/or adolescents and their families.
  • Candidate must have management and leadership experience. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, knowledge of mental health systems and linkages, and a familiarity with psychiatric disabilities and childhood psychological development. Prior work experience with emotionally disturbed youth in a Residential or Day Treatment program is necessary.

 

HOURS AND TIME OF WORK

Full-Time- 40 Hours per week
