Position Duties
A key responsibility of this position is to ensure the surplus property is maintained and auctioned in accordance with state laws, City ordinances, and departmental policies and procedures.
Additional duties include issuance and distribution of surplus to other City departments for re-use, preparation for sale of surplus property, selection of surplus to be sold online or by third-party auction, management of online accounts, scheduling and coordinating pick-up of auction items with the public from City sites, composing auction descriptions, taking pictures, and posting of items on online auction website, and ongoing customer service with the general public on auction procedures.
Although supervision is available, the employee is expected to exercise initiative and judgment in handling the daily routine of this position.
Work review is occasional and/or on an as needed basis.
The workload will vary depending upon the procurement cycle.
The employee is in frequent contact with City employees and various vendors.
The work involves frequent lifting and carrying of heavy objects and transporting goods to various departments throughout the City, and any other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of:
The methods and procedures of storekeeper functions.
Knowledge of and ability to accurately complete basic mathematical computations.
Ability to:
Read and comprehend.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Maintain records and other documentation accurately and legibly.
Operate a personal computer.
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds, while properly using a lifting belt and hand carts.
Safely operate a hand truck, motor vehicle, and fork-lift.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Customer service with the general public on a daily basis.
Other Qualifications
Must possess an Arizona Class D driver's license.
Must be able to pass forklift training and get certified within 90 days of hire.
