How will you make an impact in this role?

The Manager of Third-Party Risk and Oversight Management within the Sales Performance, Pricing & Transformation (SP&T) organization within GCS will be responsible for leading Risk Management and Oversight of American Express’s third-party relationships for SP&T Capabilities. This individual will lead with a proactive approach to partner risk control and operational resilience while also engaging in processes resulting from Project Guardian.

Key responsibilities include overseeing partner risk management performance, identifying and mitigating partner risks, supporting business continuity planning and facilitating regular business reviews based on partner risk designations. SP&T Third Party Manager will collaborate closely with process owners, and cross-functional stakeholders to drive consistent and proactive end-to-end Partner oversight and alignment across the enterprise. This role will be critical in overseeing third-party information security activities and contract testing—enhancing governance standards, and strengthening the company’s ability to proactively manage strategic third-party relationships. This role has high visibility and requires strong collaboration and presentation skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leads Third-Party Relationship Management responsibilities for SP&T third-party partner risk and internal stakeholder management
  • Accountable for the oversight and adherence of third-party contractual requirements, including TLM Process Unity inputs, managing information security gaps, and Pre and Post contract adherence tests
  • Oversees adherence to operational risk requirements
  • Influence, Monitor and Deliver on Infosec Requirements according to our internal Standards
  • Supports project Guardian third party efforts/outcomes
  • Ensures adherence to AEMP-10 requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Third-Party Lifecycle Management (AEMP-10) and Operational Risk policy requirements and activities
  • Effective at building and managing relationships with the ability to influence outcomes
  • Ability to engage with complex projects, such as enterprise-wide initiatives or cross-functional risk programs (e.g., Project Guardian or similar efforts)
  • Solution oriented mindset that enables collaboration within GCS and across the enterprise.
  • Ability to operate with autonomy, but engages stakeholders as required to gain buy-in and manage effective decision-making
  • Experience leading governance programs, vendor oversight, or risk management initiatives in a large, matrixed organization
  • Strong understanding of third-party risk frameworks, information security principles, and regulatory expectations related to partner management
  • Excellent communication, relationship management, and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across business units and leadership levels
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to translate data and insights into actionable recommendations.
  • People leadership experience a big plus as the role could possibly expand to include direct reports
