The Project
The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, will deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, forming a continuous 78 km, non-stop, traffic light-free motorway, and contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide.
The T2D Project involves constructing two separate tunnels – the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels connected by an open motorway, with a combined total distance of 10.5km, open to traffic in 2031. The T2D project comprises the tunnels, surface works including road and bridge construction in addition to services buildings and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
The role
We are seeking an experienced TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) Mechanical Shift Supervisor to oversee all mechanical activities related to the operation, maintenance, and repair of TBM and associated equipment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and continuous TBM operation in accordance with project specifications and schedules. This role will be on a 7/3/7/4 roster, day, and night shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise all mechanical maintenance and repair activities on the TBM and associated systems.
- Lead and coordinate the mechanical team to ensure optimal performance of TBM operations.
- Conduct inspections, identify mechanical issues, and plan corrective actions.
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of TBM mechanical systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and project procedures.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and daily activity reports.
- Liaise with OEM representatives and subcontractors for technical support.
- Support shift operations to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency.
About you
- Mechanical Trade Certificate
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in mechanical supervision.
- Strong knowledge of TBM systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, erector, screw conveyor, etc.).
- Proven ability to manage and motivate a multicultural workforce.
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and maintenance best practices.
- Good communication and leadership skills.
