PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
An IPS Fire technician will be able to install, service, test and inspect fire alarm and special hazards suppression systems. Additionally, they may install, service, and test and inspect exit lighting, access control, intrusion, closed circuit television, as well as other electronic equipment systems and related equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Must be able to complete timely reports and necessary customer documentation
- Will be learning to read and follow blue prints, schematics, drawings, and manufacturer’s installation and operation manuals and/or other related documentation in order to properly test a system or component.
- Work under other IPS technicians as well as independently when required.
- Follow company mandated safety policies
- Must provide accurate and timely paperwork processing.
- Must have Ohio Fire Alarm license or ability to obtain within 90 days.
- Should hold a Level 1 NICET certification and obtain a Level II before the end of the first year.
- Must actively pursue all training options presented.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
- Hold and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must have Ohio Fire Alarm License
- NICET I or higher preferred
- Undergo background check.
- Must demonstrate a high degree of integrity and honesty.
- Must have a demeanor to tolerate a variety of customer personalities.
- Must demonstrate excellent people skills.
- Must demonstrate excellent organizations skills
- Must demonstrate a sense of urgency.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Must be goal oriented.
- Must demonstrate good written and verbal communications skills.
- Must be self-motivated; able to perform work with little supervision.
- Must be able to direct and supervise others.
- Possess good math, language, and reading skills. Must fluently speak, read, and legibly write in English.
- Must have some computer skills – after learning, must be able to navigate company software, enter data, and send communication.
- Must pursue, obtain, and maintain appropriate state licenses.
- Must have 10-hour OSHA certification.
- Must have and maintain first aid certification.
- Must have and maintain CPR certification.
- Must have training certifications for and be competent to operate aerial work platforms and articulating boom man-lifts.
- Possess good interpersonal skills. Must be able to communicate and work amiably, professionally, and courteously with a variety of personalities.
Physical Requirements:
- Pass 10-panel drug screen test and undergo random drug testing
- Background check required. Must have and maintain a clean driving record (no DUIs or other serious violations within the past three years).
- Must be licensed to and able to drive a company vehicle.
- Required to stand and walk.
- Maximum unassisted lift = 75 lbs. Average unassisted lift would be less than 35 lbs.
- Must be able to bend, kneel, stoop, crawl, climb ladders both caged and un-caged as well as stairs and other equipment.
- Good eye/hand coordination and mechanical skills.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Work environments may be indoor or outdoor conditions. May be exposed to weather, dust, dirt, sunlight, minor exhaust and fuel fume odors. High noise levels will require hearing protection. Work shoes with steel toe are required. Must follow all company safety requirements.
