Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced, strategic Director of Transportation to lead our logistics operations team. This role requires deep expertise in truckload, less-than-truckload (LTL), and parcel transportation to manage a $300M spend. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing operations, analyzing data, identifying trends in the business and industry, driving cost reduction initiatives, building and maintaining carrier relationships, negotiating terms and rates, improving quality and service metrics, and resolving operational issues that impact customer delivery experiences with third-party carriers.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead a high-performing transportation team, fostering professional development and growth.
  • Lead and manage transportation operations across truckload, LTL, and parcel services.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers and negotiate favorable terms and rates.
  • Address and resolve operational issues to ensure optimal customer delivery experience.
  • Responsible for key performance indicators focused on Cost, Service and Quality
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to align transportation strategies with broader business goals.
  • Drive financial performance by managing P&L, developing comprehensive budgets, and implementing cost reduction initiatives.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make informed decisions based on accurate and comprehensive data analysis. This includes leveraging data to identify trends, optimizing transportation strategies, and supporting cost-effective and customer-focused solutions.
  • Maintain a strong customer focus to balance service, quality with cost efficiency.
  • Present transportation strategies and performance metrics to executive leadership.
  • Influence peers and leaders to drive results and support strategic initiatives by keeping a focus on overall Medline value.
  • Develop long-term transportation strategies including network optimization, scenario planning, and capacity forecasting.
  • Inspire and align cross-functional teams to achieve transportation goals and deliver enterprise-wide value.

The anticipated salary range for this position:

$132,600.00 - $199,160.00 Annual

The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s location, education, experience, skills, and abilities. This role is bonus and/or incentive eligible. Medline will not pay less than the applicable minimum wage or salary threshold.
