Position: Logistics Supervisor                                                     Reports To: Director of Integrated Supply Chain
FLSA Status: Exempt                                                                     Salary Grade: Supv 6                          WCID: 8747

 

Position Summary
The Logistic Specialist is responsible for managing, coordinating, and supporting inbound and outbound freight requirements. Oversees the efficient movement of goods and services from suppliers and to internal and external customers. This position will have direct reports and supervisor responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
1.Manages Freight Coordinator and oversees all transportation related processes.
2.Build mutually beneficial freight carrier partnering based on long-term relationships that recognize the mutual need for success.
3.Understand individual freight carriers’ capabilities and constraints and develop secondary resources.
4.Determine minimum requirements for all freight carriers hauling Steffes products.
5.Vet and validate freight carriers to ensure all carriers maintain Steffes minimum requirements (I.E. DOT, Insurance, Safety program).
6.Negotiates freight contracts, terms and conditions for all carriers including small parcel.
7.Manage RFQ (Request for Quotes) for shipments of large projects and capital expenses.
8.Develops and maintains carrier relationships, as well as acquiring all necessary documentation.
9.Evaluation, implementation, and management of freight programs such as: Quick Ship, Freight view and Epicor
10.Maintain Tariff codes and part classification for import/export of raw and finished goods.
11.Responsible for maintaining and developing procedures and best practices for functional group.
12.Facilitates process improvements to improve process efficiency.
13.Onboards and trains S&R Supervisors and Leads new hires within functional area.
14.Provides troubleshooting and functional support to others within functional area.
15.Serves as subject matter expert for ERP system and participates on steering committees.
16.Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in collaborative manner with customers, suppliers, co-workers, and management.
17.Provide direct supervision to assigned employees by monitoring daily activities, offering guidance and support, and promoting professional development to foster team growth and high performance.
18.Helps company meet its Strategic, Quality and Safety objectives.
19.Other duties may be assigned.

•Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Logistics, Purchasing Management, Supply Chain or Engineering
•2+ years of related work experience in freight management, preferred.
•Intermediate computer knowledge (Windows, email, internet, etc.)
•Written and verbal communication
•Ability to perform math computations and analysis.

•This position requires walking, sitting, or standing to a significant degree.
•Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist, carry 50 pounds, and push and/or pull up to 20 pounds.
•Must have the ability to climb ladders and/or stairs.
•Stooping, crouching, kneeling, and bending.
•Handling, feeling, and gripping would be required for some activities.
•Visual acuity is required to inspect work completed.
•This role may be subject to internal and external environmental conditions.
• Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate with visitors, ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota.
