The Quality Inspector is primarily responsible for inspecting and measuring product, recording the results of their inspections, and communicating results in a timely and accurate manner. The Quality Inspector will also monitor manufacturing processes, verify production records, and assist with maintaining the quality management system in the production cells.


This position is on-site, full-time, hourly, Monday through Friday, 3:15 pm to 11:45 pm.


Duties/Responsibilities

· Interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, and other process documents to obtain product information such as specified material, color, finish, and dimensions.

· Perform periodic in-process and final inspections, and SPC control charting as applicable.

· Perform effective and efficient operation of all standard inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, comparators, measure scopes, height verniers, scales, etc.

· Communicate deviations from specifications, irregularities and defects using fact-based findings.

· Collaborate with supervision to ensure quality assurance procedures are implemented effectively and adhered to on the manufacturing floor.

· Actively promote the Commitment to Quality policy and procedures. 

· Provide support of quality assurance activities as needed including but not limited to quality training, audits, customer return evaluations, and corrective actions.

· Perform various assigned production duties when not engaged with inspection or quality evaluation activities.

· Other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Quality Inspector in a manufacturing environment.

· Demonstrated experience inspecting extremely small parts and detecting irregularities.

· Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.

· Experience using standard measurement and inspection tools.

· Previous experience detecting defects and irregularities on extremely small parts required.

· Additional training or certifications in quality inspection, metrology, or related fields preferred.

· Experience with quality audits, SPC analysis, and QMS support activities preferred.

· Familiarity with Lean or Continuous Improvement practices preferred.


Required Knowledge

· Principles of quality inspection and measurement in a manufacturing environment.

· Engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.

· Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods.

· Quality system documentation and reporting requirements.


Required Skills

· Proficient in the use of inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gage pins, GO/NO-GO gages, and vision systems.

· Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurement and recordkeeping.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Strong analytical skills to evaluate data and detect trends.

· Effective collaboration with production, engineering, and supervision.


Required Abilities

· Ability to remain focused during repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy.

· Ability to detect and evaluate defects, including extremely small parts.

· Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.

· Ability to multi-task and adjust quickly to changing priorities.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with team members and supervisors.

· Flexibility to support overtime requirements when necessary.

· On-site availability if assigned second-shift schedule (Monday–Friday).

· Willingness to work overtime as needed to support production and customer requirements.


Physical and Work Environment Requirements

· Work performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to production equipment and moderate noise levels.

· Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear.

· Frequent use of hands to finger, handle, or feel, and to reach with hands and arms.

· Occasional bending, stooping, or kneeling.

· Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.

· Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

· Safety glasses and other PPE must be worn in designated areas.

· Requires extended use of a computer for recording inspection data and reporting results.

· Frequent communication by phone or in-person with team members and supervisors.
