- Coordinate and maintain both online collaboration platforms (e.g., Microsoft Teams) and physical laboratory spaces.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
- Having a means of transportation to travel within and between the Kansas City metropolitan area and Lawrence.
- Weekend availability for testing and outreach events.
- Knowledge of a language other than English including, but not limited to Korean, Chinese, German, or Vietnamese.
- Major in Speech-Language-Hearing (SPLH), Linguistics, Psychology, Education, Applied Behavioral Science, Anthropology, allied health fields, or a related field.
- Experience with Praat or R scripting and/or transcribing speech.
- Experience working with children and/or special populations.
Position Overview
The Speech in Little Bilinguals Lab (SLBL) at KU is seeking a Student Research Assistant for an on-campus position starting Spring 2026. The SLBL has several projects with children 3-9 years old and focuses on the speech perception and production of monolingual and bilingual children. This role is ideal for students looking to gain hands-on experience while supporting research and/or community-based initiatives. The position would involve managing and organizing the physical lab space and equipment, recruiting various communities to participate in the research, managing social media, and supporting participant testing in various ways.

During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Employment Conditions
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
