The Sales and Operations Planner (S&OP) is crucial for aligning inventory management with business objectives to meet customer demands efficiently. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring inventory strategies that ensure optimal stock levels while coordinating with various stakeholders to facilitate smooth operations. By leveraging data analysis and forecasting, the S&OP will enhance supply chain responsiveness and contribute to overall business success.


Duties and Responsibilities


Inventory Management Planning

  • Implement comprehensive inventory strategies that align with sales forecasts and customer demand.
  • Coordinate and schedule parts orders to ensure timely availability for machine repairs and customer service needs.

Supply Chain Optimization

  • Identify opportunities for improving supply chain processes, including prioritizing parts orders and optimizing lead times.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to explore and implement cost-saving initiatives, such as freight optimization and emergency fee reductions.

Backorder Management and Communication

  • Monitor back orders and develop effective solutions to minimize delays, keeping stakeholders informed through regular status updates.
  • Foster strong relationships with vendors, ensuring alignment of inventory needs and resolving any supply chain issues promptly.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with sales, marketing, and operational teams to ensure alignment on inventory strategies and customer service objectives.

Qualifications


Education

  • Relevant education in supply chain management or business-related fields.

Specialized Knowledge

  • In-depth understanding of supply chain management principles, inventory planning, and demand forecasting techniques.

Skills

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with inventory management software or ERP systems.

Abilities

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
