Position Summary
The Kindergarten Teacher fosters a positive, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports students’ academic, social, and emotional growth. This position requires strong collaboration with colleagues, effective communication with families, and the ability to design engaging, differentiated instruction that meets the needs of all learners.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
Plan and deliver high-quality, standards-aligned instruction in literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies.
Implement developmentally appropriate practices that support early childhood learning.
Use a variety of instructional strategies—including hands-on learning, centers, small-group instruction, and play-based activities.
Integrate social-emotional learning into daily routines and instruction.
Utilize assessment data (formal and informal) to guide instruction and provide targeted support for students.
Classroom Management & Environment
Create a structured, safe, and nurturing classroom environment that promotes a love of learning.
Establish clear expectations, routines, and procedures to support positive behavior and independence.
Maintain a clean, organized, and print-rich classroom reflective of kindergarten standards.
Assessment & Progress Monitoring
Conduct regular assessments to monitor student growth, including literacy screenings and progress monitoring tools.
Maintain accurate records of student performance.
Provide timely feedback to students and communicate progress to families.
Communication & Collaboration
Communicate consistently and professionally with parents/guardians about student progress, behavior, and classroom activities.
Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, specialists, and support staff.
Participate in IEP meetings, MTSS processes, parent conferences, and staff meetings as required.
Professional Responsibilities
Demonstrate professionalism, positive rapport, and ethical conduct at all times.
Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance instructional practices.
Uphold school policies, procedures, and expectations.
