Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Boutique Manager to oversee retail operations, boutique sales, inventory management, and product development. You are a strong leader with proven retail and buying experience who thrives in both fast-paced event environments and structured office operations. You demonstrate excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills while inspiring and holding your team accountable.

Position Overview
The Boutique Manager is responsible for driving boutique sales across Spotlight’s touring events, managing inventory and buying decisions, and ensuring brand consistency in merchandise and retail operations. This role includes overseeing in-office boutique functions, managing an online store, hiring and training sales associates, and traveling to events to lead boutique execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Attain sales goals by leading, motivating, and managing boutique sales associates
- Represent Spotlight as a professional leader who embodies a “client-first” focus
- Hire, train, and develop both in-office and event boutique staff
- Lead event boutique operations including setup, tear down, merchandising, and sales transactions
- Purchase and manage boutique merchandise, marketing materials, props, and fixtures
- Oversee product design and selection in collaboration with Sales, Marketing, and Client Services teams
- Utilize Lightspeed POS to track stock levels, trends, sales statistics, and merchandise aging
- Process merchandise, tagging, markdowns, and replenishment to ensure optimal inventory
- Negotiate with vendors to secure favorable pricing and product quality
- Develop and implement merchandising strategies for in-office, online, and on-event boutiques
- Organize and oversee photo shoots for marketing and promotional materials
- Implement sales campaigns to drive product awareness and volume
- Manage online store operations and fulfill e-commerce orders
- Balance, reconcile, and manage cash handling procedures
- Prepare reports on boutique sales and inventory for leadership
- Oversee supplier RFPs for merchandise, signage, programs, and event materials
- Delivering exceptional customer service with enthusiasm and positivity
- Operate the POS system for purchases, returns, and exchanges, balancing drawers daily
- Lead boutique setup, restocking, merchandising displays, and teardown
- Collaborate with event leadership to support overall event success
Key Qualifications & Competencies
- High School Diploma required; college degree (Preferred)
- Minimum 2–3 years of retail management experience
- POS system experience required; Lightspeed (Preferred)
- Buying and merchandising experience (Required)
- Experience in the dance, theater, or performing arts industry (Preferred)
- Excellent management skills with the ability to Lead, Manage, and hold self and others Accountable
- Retail sales management and team leadership experience
- Buying and inventory control expertise, including vendor negotiations
- Proficiency in Lightspeed POS (preferred) and strong cash handling skills
- Cost control, pricing, and budget management experience
- Strong computer skills: Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and reporting tools
- Ability to multi-task under pressure and meet deadlines
- High level of professionalism, empathy, and leadership in managing diverse teams
- Strong customer service and sales skills with the ability to identify efficiencies and improvements
- Must be reliable, punctual, flexible, and adaptable to changing business needs
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Travel is required during our event season (January–July), and team members must reside within reasonable proximity to a U.S. international airport or hub to accommodate frequent travel.
On average, the role involves attending approximately 7–9 regional events each year, typically lasting 3–5 days, with 1–2 national events lasting 6–8 days.
Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, setting up equipment, and working in a variety of environments, such as event venues, hotels, and stages. Staff members must also be comfortable sharing hotel accommodations with same-gender colleagues during event assignments.
Mock Training: All new/first year event staff are required to attend an audition and training session in Eagle, Idaho (Typically hosted January 5th–9th). Spotlight provides flights, transport, lodging, and meals. Travel may occur one day before or after the scheduled dates.
