Job Goals primary focus is to enrich and support teaching and learning of students, teachers, and staff.
- Master Scheduling – Lead & oversee the counselors in developing the master schedule each school year.
- Instructional Leader – Works collaboratively with Principal on Curriculum, Pacing Guides, Classroom Visits, Coaching Conversations, etc. Works closely with PLC Coach and Innovation Coach to ensure continuous improvement instructionally.
- Implement, organize, and oversee Portrait of a Graduate Work – Work collaboratively with Admin Team and PLC Coach in introducing / launching Capstone Project, Character Strong Curriculum, and vision of PoG work.
- Instructional Rounds & Classroom Visits – Regularly meet with Instructional Coaches Team to discuss implementation of initiatives.
- Works with District Coordinators to schedule classroom visits and gather feedback / areas of reinforcement & refinement.
- Benchmarking – Utilizes the results of the assessments to identify areas of reinforcement and refinement. Hold Data Meetings, assisted by PLC Coach, by grade level and content area to hold “Adopt, Adapt, Abandon” conversations & establish SMART goals and monitor progress toward.
- District Principal PLC / Data Meetings – Work collaboratively with the Principal and PLC Coach to prepare presentation for District Principal Meeting… envisioning each to play a role in the presentation.
- TNReady, Pre ACT, and Benchmarking – Work with PLC Coach, Innovation Coach, and counseling team to implement, organize, and administer assessments.
IEP / 504
- Responsible for organization of 504’s and monitoring implementation.
- Attend Special Education IEP / 504 meetings as LEA with focus on students identified as SLD.
- Oversee Response to Intervention (RTI) and ensure program fidelity.
- Hold RTI meetings to ensure appropriate student placement in the RTI process with Math/ELA.
- Oversee SPED Department and hold quarterly meeting to discuss student / program needs.
- Assist Gifted Program Supervisor – Work to ensure students are supported through needs in IEP.
- Benchmark Data Review Meetings
- Work closely with PLC Coach and Innovation Coach in scheduling, organizing, and administering.
- Review data upon receipt to identify areas of reinforcement & refinement. Be prepared for further discussions with Principal & PLC Coach about goals and for Quarterly Principal Data Presentations.
- Serve on the School Instructional Leadership Team.
- Chair & Create Agendas for Counseling, Department, Grade Level, and Special Areas Meetings.
- Organize, distribute, and conduct Data Day Staff Meetings – Held on return from breaks and as needed.
- Provide supervision during class interchanges, lunches, and unstructured student times.
Afternoon Dismissal
- Bus & Traffic Assistance.
- Regularly attend after-school sponsored activities.
- Maintain School X and Instagram Accounts.
- Collect and publish weekly family newsletter and staff newsletter.
- Models and communicates expectations for individual and shared ownership of student, educator, and school success.
- Build strong relationships with teachers & staff.
- Awards Ceremonies/Promotion Ceremonies/Student Incentive Programs.
TEAM Evaluations
- Oversee Teacher Evaluation Cycle – Complete observations with assistance of Principal and Dean of Students.
- Complete Observations for Core Content Observations (Math and English as primary, Science and Social Studies split with Principal), SPED.
- Regularly update spreadsheet to monitor completion and pacing toward completing requirements.
- Ensure Growth & Achievement Choices are selected.
- TVAAS – Update educators annually on score and resulting LOE as well as the end of year roster verification process.
- Complete Yearly Support Staff Observations (split with Principal)
- Assist Principal in planning, implementation, and oversight of Schoolwide Professional Development
- Ensure staff PD is approved in data collection system
- Work with Staff Mentorship Program
- Serve on interview committees & work with Principal in screening, selection, and overall interview process (committee establishment, creating questions, folders, etc.)
- School Improvement (e-Plan) submission
Instructional Coaches
- Assist Principal in meeting regularly with Instructional Coaches Team to discuss implementation of initiatives
- Obtain Annual TASL Credit, TEAM Observer Credit
- Improves self-practice based on multiple sources of feedback, including performance evaluation results and self-reflection
- Serve as the PTO JMS Administrator liaison
- Attend Board of Education meetings in absence of Principal
- Assist in recruiting and conversing with diverse stakeholders
- Assist Principal in creation of Annual Budget Letter / Presentation
- Assist with Staff Issues / Parent Concerns / Complaints
- Oversee Annual Creation of Staff & Faculty Handbook, Schedules, Committees, etc.
- Academic Materials Inventory-Textbooks, Online textbooks
Qualifications
- Must have a valid Tennessee teaching and administration license.
- Middle School Experience teaching in Grades 4 through 9 preferred.
- Leadership experience prefered.
