Quantum Organics is looking for a qualified facility laborer/operator to join our team at our state-of-the-art organic waste recycling campus in Southington, CT. We are seeking individuals who are hardworking, adaptable, and committed to contributing to renewable energy and organic waste recycling efforts.
Our team operates an award-winning, state-of-the-art organic waste recycling facility that transforms food waste and green waste into renewable fuels, electricity, and compost soil products. Located in Southington, CT, our campus is one of the first of its kind on the east coast.
At Quantum, we utilize anaerobic digestion to convert food waste into renewable energy, recycling 40,000 tons of food waste per year to create 1.2 MW of clean energy while avoiding 5,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually.
About the Role:
We are seeking reliable, detail-oriented individuals to join our team as Laborer. This position plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of our recycling facility. Laborers are responsible for general labor tasks such as cleaning, moving materials, performing basic maintenance, and ensuring the work environment remains safe and organized. The ideal candidate is hard-working, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in an active industrial setting.
Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Facility Laborer/Operator to support our daily operations. This position requires versatility, physical labor, and a strong safety mindset. The responsibilities include:
- Operate small to midsize equipment such as pay loaders, skid steers, and manlifts in a safe and efficient manner.
- Operate general site vehicles and equipment like water trucks, pick-up trucks, sweepers, mowers, and trimming equipment.
- Prepare job sites by cleaning, removing hazards, greasing equipment, and assisting with routine maintenance.
- Use basic hand tools (shovel, pitchfork, grease guns, garbage pickers, and handheld power tools).
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Collaborate with laborers, operators, and supervisors to ensure smooth operation and meet project goals.
- Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE, and adhere to company safety guidelines.
- Perform yard/site work, including mowing, trash pickup, trimming, and garbage removal.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift in an outdoor environment for 90% of the time.
- Ability to use hands and fingers, kneel, crawl, talk, hear, climb, and balance.
- Ability to regularly lift/move up to 65 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Must be able to work in varying weather conditions (low/high temperatures, humidity, etc.).
- Be comfortable working at elevated heights up to 30 feet.

Experience (Preferred):
