THE ROLE

Breakaway is in search of a Senior Accountant to join our growing Finance team and support the company’s rapid expansion. This role will oversee day-to-day accounting operations while helping to build and streamline processes that support all Breakaway Group Inc. 

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and supporting budgeting, forecasting, and tax-readiness processes. This individual will collaborate closely with the Controller and other departments to provide financial insights, manage transactions, and deliver timely reports that guide decision-making.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. They bring strong accounting knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a team-first mindset, with the ability to balance both day-to-day execution and big-picture growth.

Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the Accounts Receivable cycle, including invoicing, customer aging analysis, and cash application
  • Prepare and review monthly journal entries to support accurate and timely reporting
  • Lead general ledger reconciliations and financial analysis across entity and project-level balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close, contributing to high-quality reporting for internal and external reporting packages
  • Oversee bank reconciliations and with detailed reviews of account balances
  • Partner with leadership on budgeting and forecasting, developing supporting materials and improving visibility into financial performance
  • Enhance internal controls and compliance processes, identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and operational efficiency
  • Directly assist the Controller, providing high-level administrative and analytical support

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of accounting experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Experience with accounting enterprise systems and expense management software
  • Strong foundation in journal entries, account reconciliations, and ledger management
  • Detail-oriented with strong multi-tasking abilities.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Sage Intacct and Ramp.
  • Experience working in live events, entertainment, or festival finance is a plus.
