As a Public Health Nurse Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing first-line supervision and implementing nursing programs to Public Health Nurses and other support staff.
Duties include planning, directing, coordinating, scheduling, training, and evaluating the work of public health nurses, staff nurses, office assistants, and others engaged in a variety of nursing and health care programs; coordinating nursing and/or disaster preparedness programs with other social, medical, and health service agencies, educational agencies, and the community; and representing HHSA on committees as necessary.

Required Education and Experience:
- Valid California Registered Nurse License is required at time of appointment; AND,
- Valid Public Health Nurse Certificate from the California State Registered Nursing is required at time of appointment; AND,
- A Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency, AND,
- Four (4) years of experience as a Registered Nurse with at least three (3) years under the direct supervision of an official public health agency with a generalized public health nursing program; OR,
- Four (4) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital or clinic or public health nurse field; OR,
- A Master of Science degree in nursing from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency, AND,
- Three (3) years of experience as a Registered Nurse with at least two (2) years under the direct supervision of an official public health agency with a generalized public health nursing program; OR,
- Three (3) years of experience as a Registered Nurse working in a hospital or clinic, or public health nurse field.
- A valid Public Health Nurse Certificate from a State Public Health Nursing or other regulatory agency is required at time of appointment.
- A valid National Provider Identification Number (NPI) and CPR card is required at time of appointment.

Public Health Nurse Certification
Please be advised that candidates must possess a current California Public Health Nurse (PHN) Certificate in order to be hired for this position. Candidates who do not possess a PHN Certificate at time of application should begin the process of obtaining a PHN Certificate immediately in order to avoid any delays in the hiring process.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will possess broad nursing knowledge and clinical experience and demonstrate leadership and educational skills. Prior project management and educational program development over professional level staff in a matrix management environment is highly desirable. Knowledge and experience in health systems, public health and social networking, disaster preparedness, disaster response and Incident Command System are essential to optimal success. Ability to facilitate groups, to prepare and deliver professional presentations to community partners, to provide operational training, to organize and maintain training schedules, and to develop educational curriculum and training objectives are important in this position. The ideal candidate will encourage team collaboration, positive communication and demonstrate good judgment.

- Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
- Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

Condition of Employment:
