Position Summary
The Warehouse & Logistics Operations Leader is responsible for leading and transforming all warehouse, shipping, and inventory operations to world-class standards of accuracy, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. This role combines strategic process ownership with hands-on leadership to ensure optimal material flow, system accuracy, and on-time delivery performance.
The leader will own the processes, systems, and team development within DeWys’ shipping, receiving, and inventory control functions—driving improvement through Lean principles, data-driven decision-making, and ERP optimization. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can assess current-state operations, identify gaps, lead change with minimal oversight and foster a culture of engagement and accountability.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing warehouse and logistics team focused on safety, accuracy, and process standards.
- Set clear performance expectations and KPIs, conducting regular performance reviews and coaching sessions.
- Build trust through transparent communication, coaching, and shared accountability.
- Facilitate daily team huddles to review metrics, remove barriers, and celebrate wins.
- Develop cross-training and growth plans to ensure bench strength and operational flexibility.
- Model servant leadership, creating an environment where team members are respected, supported, and engaged.
Operational Excellence & Process Ownership
- Own the end-to-end shipping, receiving, and warehouse management processes — from inbound receipt to outbound shipment.
- Define, document, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all logistics functions.
- Drive visual management, 5S, and standard work practices to create an organized, efficient, and safe environment.
- Lead daily management and problem-solving routines focused on throughput, inventory accuracy, and order fulfillment.
System & Data Leadership
- Serve as the ERP superuser and process owner for all logistics modules, ensuring data accuracy and process compliance.
- Partner with IT and Supply Chain leadership to enhance ERP utilization for real-time material visibility, traceability, and reporting.
- Leverage data and metrics to identify process bottlenecks, evaluate performance, and prioritize improvement initiatives.
Continuous Improvement & Change Leadership
- Identify and lead Lean initiatives to eliminate waste, reduce lead times, and improve material handling efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Scheduling, Purchasing, and Customer Service) to improve end-to-end material flow.
- Develop and monitor KPIs including on-time shipment, order accuracy, inventory accuracy, dock-to-stock cycle time, and freight costs.
- Champion warehouse automation and digitalization efforts as DeWys scales operations.
Safety, Quality, and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company-specific safety requirements across all warehouse activities.
- Promote proactive safety engagement through audits, training, and recognition.
- Maintain high standards of product handling to ensure damage-free and specification-compliant shipments.

Qualifications
Education
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent experience in high-performance manufacturing or distribution environments will be considered.
Experience & Skills
- 5+ years of progressive experience in warehouse, logistics, or supply chain operations.
- 3+ years in a leadership role with demonstrated success developing people and improving processes.
- Proven ability to lead change and implement world-class logistics practices with minimal direction.
- Strong ERP experience (Epicor, Global Shop, or similar) with ownership of shipping, receiving, and inventory control modules.
- Lean/Continuous Improvement experience (certification preferred).
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills with a bias for action.
- Knowledge of freight management (LTL, flatbed, dedicated carrier) and export logistics a plus.
Physical Requirements
· Regularly required to stand, walk, and handle materials throughout the shift.
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely operate material handling equipment.
· Work is performed primarily in a shop and shipping dock environment.
