The Buyer Agent I will be responsible for the effective management of assigned commodities to achieve on-time delivery, revenue and inventory goals. The Buyer Agent I will actively engage with team members from Operations, Quality, Engineering, Accounts Payable, Strategic Sourcing and Suppliers in order to develop strong working relationships and resolve issues in a timely manner.


Requirements
We are searching for a candidate with:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.
  • 0 – 2  years of procurement experience in a make-to-order environment.
  • Base knowledge of MRP principles and experience with Materials Requirements Planning.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (Visual 9 preferred).
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Proven experience in contract negotiation and administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage inventory levels and drive reduction strategies.
  • Effective communication skills (written, verbal, presentation).
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams.

Duties and Responsibilities
A typical day may include: 

  • Purchasing & Procurement Operations
    • Handle all tactical purchasing responsibilities for internal and external supply chain partners to maintain high customer service levels.
    • Generate requisitions and issue Purchase Orders (POs) to suppliers.
    • Maintain accurate purchase order pricing, quantities, deliveries, and data within the ERP system.
  • Production & Scheduling Support
    • Collaborate with Scheduling, Production, and Manufacturing teams to align material orders with production build schedules.
    • Schedule timely delivery of materials for assigned commodities based on production needs.
    • Provide suppliers with a rolling 12-month forecast to support planning.
  • Inventory & Supplier Management
    • Establish and maintain optimal inventory levels for assigned materials.
    • Actively manage inventory to align with business strategies and targets.
    • Monitor and support supplier compliance with inventory agreements.
  • Cost Management & Financial Coordination
    • Work with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure timely payments.
    • Generate, document, and implement cost-saving initiatives and ensure visibility of results.
    • Ensure close cooperation with internal stakeholders to enhance customer satisfaction and enable early engagement.
    • Collaborate with Sustaining Engineering on part changes to minimize scrap and ensure smooth transitions.
  • Supplier Development & Compliance
    • Participate in supplier management activities such as qualification, selection, evaluation, development, and classification

Work Contact Groups

  • Internal: Frequent interaction with production, engineering, quality, manufacturing, finance, warehouse, and purchasing teams.
  • External: Ongoing communication with suppliers, transportation partners, customs agents, and other Vantage Group companies.

Position Details

  • Location: On-site in Bronx, NY
  • Schedule: Full-time, Day Shift (typically 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
  • Environment: General office setting with occasional material/equipment handling.
