About the Department

The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for day-to-day management, compliance, and overall effective operation of the 340B Pharmacy program within Craven County Community Health Center / Craven County Health Department. 

Position Duties

Program Coordination

  • Develops, implements and updates policies and procedures according to all applicable guidelines. Ensures policies and procedures support maximum productivity and efficiency.
  • Continually monitors 340B regulations to ensure overall compliance. Communicates updates with the appropriate management and staff.
  • Develops training and competency materials for all staff who work with the 340B program. 
  • Conducts ongoing 340B program training for the appropriate staff. 
  • Manages purchasing, receiving, and inventory control processes.
  • Coordinates billing and accounting functions of the 340B program.
  • Prepares, monitors, and reports measurements to ensure satisfaction with the 340B program. 
  • Performs and/or oversees necessary audits.
  • Routinely reviews data and related reports from all points of service at which 340B participation occurs to ensure that policies and procedures are followed, entity requirements are met, and all patients meet patient definition requirements.
  • Maintains all required permits, licensure, and registration of the 340B pharmacy program as required by Federal and State laws. 
  • Assures appropriate safeguards and system integrity. 
Patient Care
  • Assures accuracy and appropriateness of each prescription for each patient.
  • Consults patients on the proper use of their medications.
  • Provides pharmaceutical information to clinical staff.
  • Collaborates with medical providers in developing therapeutic treatment plans for patients.
Licensure & Training 
  • Maintains current license to practice as a Registered Pharmacist in North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy
  • Participates in 340B University training
  • Participates in ongoing professional growth and development training. 

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from a recognized School of Pharmacy and one year of experience as a licensed pharmacist, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting.
340B Pharmacy experience preferred.

Special Requirements
Must have a current license to practice as a Registered Pharmacist in North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy.
G.S. 153A-94.2(b) Subject to SBI criminal history record check prior to hire.

Other Qualifications

Other duties as assigned by management.
In the event of a disaster, may be required to assist as needed.
