About the Role:
Due to company growth, we are looking to appoint a Drainage Assistant to join our Leeds Depot. Working as part of a two person teams, you will be responsible for attending drainage related issues such as blockages, pipe clearing, cleansing and reactive call outs.
- Location: Leeds or York
- Hours: 47.5 hours per week (4 on, 4 off day and night shifts available)
- Salary: £12.50 - £13.50 per hour

Responsibilities
- Operate machinery
- Ensure all H&S requirements are followed
- Communicate with customers about scheduled works and address any concerns.
- Assist in identifying drainage issues, including blockages, structural defects, infiltration, and root ingress.
- Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment to clean and clear drains, sewers, and pipework.
- Remove waste materials and prevent build-up in wastewater systems.
- Perform routine equipment checks and maintenance to ensure readiness.
- Support CCTV inspections to assess the condition of underground pipes and sewers.
- Assist in emergency response situations, including flooding and urgent drainage issues.
- Learn to complete job sheets, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS) under supervision.
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 penalty points)
- CSCS Card
- A strong interest in drainage, utilities, or civil engineering
- A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to work outdoors in all conditions
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Basic computer skills and a desire to learn new software
Lanes Group will provide all training required for the role such as high-pressure water jetting, confined space, spill response, etc.
