The EHS Coordinator reports to Plant Manager at the Guadalupe, N.L. facility and is responsible for the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) systems for the site, collaborating with the Regional EHS Manager. This role plays a key part in ensuring safe, compliant, and sustainable operations during the greenfield start-up, line commissioning, and full manufacturing ramp-up, supporting both construction and operational phases while promoting a strong culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance.

Primary Responsibilities

EHS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM & STRATEGY – 20%

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the site’s Integrated EHS Management System aligned with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 9001 standards.
  • Define EHS policies, KPIs, and governance mechanisms to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead internal and external audits, management reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure integration of EHS elements into all site processes, including change management (MOC) and validation activities.

GREENFIELD & COMMISSIONING SUPPORT – 20%

  • Lead EHS readiness and compliance activities for construction, utilities start-up, line commissioning, and equipment validation.
  • Conduct Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) and manage all construction-phase EHS controls.
  • Ensure all contractors and service providers operate under approved safe work permits and procedures.
  • Oversee emergency system readiness—alarm networks, evacuation routes, and signage.

TRAINING, HEALTH & CULTURE DEVELOPMENT– 20%

  • Lead onboarding, re-training, and competency certification programs for employees and contractors.
  • Collaborate closely with the Occupational Medical Department to implement health surveillance, ergonomic evaluations, and well-being initiatives.
  • Foster a proactive EHS culture through campaigns, communication plans, and recognition programs.
  • Monitor and report EHS performance metrics and promote employee participation in safety committees.

REGULATORY COMPLIANCE & ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMS – 15%

  • Ensure full compliance with Mexican Official Standards (NOM), STPS, SEMARNAT, PROFEPA, and CONAGUA regulations.
  • Manage environmental permits, hazardous waste (RESPEL) registration, air/water emissions reports, and sustainability programs.
  • Oversee environmental monitoring, including air emissions, wastewater analysis, and control of utilities consumption (water, natural gas, electricity).
  • Implement and report results of the site’s Pest Control Program and environmental housekeeping standards.
  • Prepare and submit all annual environmental reports, maintaining documentation and inspection readiness.

SAFETY LEADERSHIP & RISK MANAGEMENT – 15%

  • Conduct and maintain risk assessments, JSA (Job Safety Analysis), and periodic workplace inspections.
  • Lead and coordinate incident and accident investigations, ensuring proper root cause analysis, corrective actions, and corporate reporting.
  • Develop and maintain the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Matrix, ensuring certification, control, and annual review.
  • Design, implement, and regularly test the Emergency Response Plan, including drills, simulations, and coordination with local authorities.
  • Supervise the activities of the Emergency Brigade and ensure availability and inspection of all response equipment.

CONTRACTOR & SUPPLY CHAIN SAFETY – 10%

  • Manage contractor qualification, training, and performance evaluation according to H.B. Fuller standards.
  • Lead security and asset protection programs, including access control, visitor management, CCTV monitoring, and compliance with CTPAT/OEA standards.
  • Ensure that transportation, storage, and loading operations comply with EHS and supply chain security requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, Industrial, Engineering or Occupational Safety Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years in EHS roles within manufacturing; at least 3 years in leadership capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 14001 / 45001 / 9001, NOM, and STPS regulations.
  • Experience with greenfield projects, start-ups, and validation processes.
  • Demonstrated capability managing contractor safety, environmental permits, and audits.
  • Certifications: ISO Lead Auditor, STPS/OSHA EHS Certification, Emergency Response & Fire Brigade Leadership.
  • Languages: Bilingual English/Spanish

Preferred Requirements

  • Master’s degree or specialization in Environmental or Occupational Safety Management
  • Prior experience in chemical, adhesives, or process manufacturing industries.
  • Knowledge of CTPAT/OEA supply chain security systems.
  • Familiarity with EHS software tools and data dashboards

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead or participate in corporate EHS, Quality, and Sustainability programs.
  • Support Continuous Improvement (CI/Lean) initiatives and site Kaizen events.
  • Manage compliance with emergency response, hazardous waste handling, and security protocols.
  • Represent the company before regulatory authorities during inspections, permits, and audits.
  • Actively promote environmental stewardship, safe behaviors, and well-being across the organization.
