About TC Transcontinental RBW Graphics:
This position is based at the TC Transcontinental RBW Graphics plant in Owen Sound, Ontario, which has been in operation for over 171 years. With over 400 employees, it is the largest commercial printing plant of magazines, flyers, catalogues, and directories in Canada. Owen Sound is a smaller city filled with cultural, outdoor, and recreational activities.
Industrial Electrical Apprentice
Status: Full Time
Schedule: Days (Monday-Thursday 7:00am-3:30pm, Friday 7am-3pm)
Reports To: Electrician Lead Hand
We are currently seeking an Industrial Electrical Apprentice. This position provides hands-on support in the installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial electrical systems and equipment. The role involves assisting with troubleshooting, performing basic electrical tasks, and learning advanced techniques under the guidance of experienced electricians. This is an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills and gain practical experience in a dynamic industrial environment.
Responsibilities:When your actions lead to success:
- Assist licensed electricians with the installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial electrical systems and equipment.
- Help run and terminate wiring, conduit, and cable for machinery and control systems
- Support troubleshooting of electrical issues, including motors, sensors, and control panels.
- Perform basic tasks such as replacing fuses, bulbs, and simple components under supervision.
- Learn to read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Operate hand tools and electrical testing equipment safely and maintain them in good condition.
- Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures and PPE requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and assist in preparing materials for projects.
- Document work performed and report any irregularities to senior electricians.
- Participate in on-the-job training and classroom instruction to develop electrical trade skills.
- Collaborate with other trades (e.g., millwrights, mechanics) to complete maintenance and installation projects.
When your expertise drives us:
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical courses are an asset but not required)
- Enrollment in or eligibility for the Industrial Electrical Apprenticeship (442A) program.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems and safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (training provided as needed).
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting and working in varied environments.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
- Commitment to following safety standards and company procedures.
- Previous industrial or maintenance experience is an asset but not required
