Role Highlights
As Category Manager - Ports Infrastructure, you will be accountable for the end-to-end management of the assigned category, driving strategic procurement outcomes and optimising stakeholder relationships. The role oversees all aspects of category strategy development and execution, ensuring alignment with divisional objectives and commercial priorities.
In this diverse, hands-on role, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Manage the full procurement lifecycle for the assigned category, encompassing planning, market research, solicitation (tendering), contract formation, management, and close-out.
Partner with contract stakeholders and business sponsors to lead the development of procurement strategies, define contract objectives, establish scopes of work, timelines, evaluation criteria, and key contractual terms.
Oversee the development and administration of contracts, ensuring effective stakeholder engagement and compliance with Fremantle Ports’ Procurement and Contract Management (P&CM) policies, as well as applicable Western Australian Government requirements.
Drive supplier performance excellence by monitoring compliance with contractual obligations, evaluating outcomes against KPIs, and implementing initiatives that improve cost, quality, and service delivery.
Advise and collaborate with business leaders to resolve disputes, implement corrective actions, and maintain robust, risk-aware contracting practices that enhance operational performance and stakeholder confidence.
What Makes You a Great Fit
You have highly developed written communication skills, with the ability to prepare, articulate, and present complex procurement and technical documentation clearly and effectively. You also demonstrate strong analytical, research, and conceptual skills, with a track record of providing practical and innovative solutions to complex problems and issues.
You’ll also bring:
Proven commercial experience in Procurement Management across multiple categories, with particular focus and expertise in Industrial, Civil & Marine construction projects.
Extensive experience in planning, developing, and managing high-risk and complex contracts that deliver strategic and operational business outcomes within a complex organisational environment.
Demonstrated interpersonal, relationship management, and negotiation capabilities, with the ability to engage, influence, and consult effectively with senior stakeholders.
A mindset of continuous improvement, consistently seeking ways to enhance systems, processes, and outcomes while embodying our core values of Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (CARE).
