Primary purpose of this position:
Responsible for performing the maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of the company’s equipment and vehicle fleet. This role ensures that all equipment and vehicles are serviced in a timely, safe, and cost-effective manner, while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance with safety regulations.
Specific Job Duties:
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, chassis lubrication, and tire rotations
- Inspect and service vehicle systems including brakes, belts, hoses, lights, steering components, and wiper blades
- Conduct computer diagnostics and assess vehicle damage or malfunctions
- Perform repairs and adjustments to brakes, suspensions, wheel bearings, and fuel systems
- Tune engines and service air conditioning systems
- Replace defective components such as mufflers, tailpipes, and fuel injection parts
- Use precision tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to inspect parts for wear
- Communicate with internal customers to understand vehicle issues and provide repair estimates
- Discuss future maintenance needs and ensure customer satisfaction
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and inventory
Other Requirements:
- Comply with all safety standards, policies, and procedures
- Maintain a clean work area and comply with housekeeping requirements
- Regular and punctual attendance.
- Ability to work on a team and interact with people
- Maintain a positive, cooperative, and teachable attitude
- Ability to travel to job sites for vehicle and equipment repair.
- Ability to work 8-to-10-hour days, flexible schedule, and overtime when necessary
- Participate in training and educational opportunities as offered or required by the company
- Ability to pass background screening and drug screening
- Valid driver’s license required and ability to meet company driver qualification policy preferred
- Ability to pass a physical ability test
- Any other duties assigned by supervisor or management
Education and Experience Requirements:
- OSHA 10-Hour Certification required as a minimum, additional training may be required
- Formal training or certification in automotive repair or fleet maintenance preferred
- Proven experience in vehicle diagnostics, repair, and supervision of technical staff
- Either possess or be able to obtain a valid Virginia State Inspection License.
