Position Summary:
The Product Engineer position is responsible for designing and developing products from customer specifications or sales department requests. Working with factory personnel, the Product Engineer is responsible for the integration of materials, methods, and tools necessary to bring new products to the company portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Lead all stages of product development, from concept to launch, by conducting research, gathering data, and providing input on product features and improvements.
- Identify customer requirements and needs for service and support products.
- Develop and implement processes and metrics to evaluate and qualify materials and methods that are incorporated into ABEC Products.
- Maintain and support the training for selection and sizing of materials and methods across departments.
- Develop service products and support direct market positioning and sales support.
- Develop Training Materials.
- Evaluate product costs and work with operational departments to reduce costs and improve gross margins.
- Evaluate and report product performance and market share.
- Ability to work in a professional team-based office environment and meet date-driven customer-focused commitments.
- Will play an active role in identifying and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunity.
- Execute other tasks as assigned.
- Ability to travel when required.
Qualifications:
- BS in an Engineering field (Mechanical, Biological, Chemical or equivalent experience).
- 3 years of post-graduate Engineering experience in related industry preferred.
- 2 years of experience in support of automation and control systems engineering related to bioprocesses preferred.
- Awareness of and prior experience with implementing Continuous Improvement (CI) a plus.
- Prior Lean/Six Sigma experience a plus.
