Body Shop Assistant

Bergstrom Body Shop of Madison (Applegate Rd)

The Body Shop Assistant is responsible for providing general support to the body, paint, and mechanical technicians by maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment within the facility. This position involves a variety of routine tasks including shop cleanup, vehicle washing, basic detailing, material disposal, and light assistance with technician duties. The Body Shop Assistant plays a critical role in supporting the overall efficiency and cleanliness of the shop floor.

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm 

Pay: $16 - 22/hour based on body shop experience

What You’ll Do:

As a Body Shop Assistant, you’ll provide hands-on support to our technicians while helping maintain a safe and efficient shop environment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Pre-washing vehicles, assisting with intake, pre-repair scans, and damage mapping

  • Uploading information to estimating software

  • Preparing vehicles for delivery and assisting with detailing

  • Keeping the shop, lot, and building exteriors clean, safe, and organized

  • Supporting technicians with basic tasks and shop equipment

  • Performing general duties like snow removal, light cleanup, and vehicle washing

What We’re Looking For:

  • A self-starter with strong work ethic and attention to detail

  • Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to assist others

  • Physically capable of lifting 35–50 lbs. and being on your feet throughout the day

  • Someone who can follow instructions, work independently, and stay on schedule

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience in a body shop or automotive service environment is a plus

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record

  • Ability to work in various conditions, including outdoors and in a noisy, fast-paced shop
