Job Summary
The Dean of Student Success will focus on addressing educational enrichment and access to experiences to include family engagement, access to student mental health wellness, student transitions into school and into third grade.

Performance Responsibilities
Address social-emotional learning, reading and math achievement coordination across content areas to include STEM and character education, student engagement in the regular classroom, parent and family engagement, and reducing behaviors that disrupt the learning environment.

Essential functions, Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in the implementation of policies, regulations, guidelines, and procedures pertaining to student behavior and attendance.
Foster positive relationships with students to help them navigate challenges
Provide leadership in establishing a welcoming, structured, and achievement-oriented school culture
Develop and implement behavioral policies and administer disciplinary actions as needed
Work proactively to prevent disciplinary issues through positive behavior and conflict resolution
Maintain a commitment to learning about best practices in student management and attendance.
Perform supervision of students during unstructured times such as before and after school, during passing times and during lunch periods. As a member of the primary school administrative team, assist with supervision of special events.
Actively encourage and involve parents in their child's academic success and school activities, building strong, trusting home-school relationships.
Communicate regularly and proactively with families regarding student performance, behavior, and overall well-being
Help plan and coordinate family programming and events, including new student/family orientations and events that celebrate student achievement and progress.
Serve as an additional resource to families, connecting them with school-related resources and external community agencies as needed for support.
Perform other related duties as directed by the principal or superintendent/designee.

Knowledge and Abilities:

Ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds.
Demonstrates successful experience in dealing with professional staff and parents.
Knowledge of district policies and procedures
Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff, or district personnel
Ability to promote and develop a cooperative work environment
Demonstrates excellence in written and oral communication skills.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Master’s degree preferred
Certification in administration, supervision, and/or guidance counseling
Shall demonstrate the ability to work effectively with students, peers, and adults.
Shall demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and faculty.

Days worked and salary

Part-time
Certified salary schedule approved by the Newport Board of Education
