The Admissions & IPU Clinical Manager is a responsible member of the interdisciplinary and clinical management teams for the intake/admissions and Hospital IPU teams. Oversee the implementation, delivery, coordination, and supervision of Hospice services delivered by respective teams consistent with Hospice policies and procedures. This role will participate and provide leadership to the teams by providing support and facilitate problem solving when needed. The IPU team is involved in a partnership with Emory St Joseph Hospital, by providing a clinical team that fosters hospice care for admitted patients with an end-of-life prognosis. This position will require the manager to be in the office and attend the hospital for meetings and overseeing the relationship between the Capstone IPU team and Emory.
This is a full-time, salaried exempt position. This position will report directly to the Capstone Hospice Chief Clinical Officer. This position will have direct reports in both the clinical field and office setting.
Essential Functions of the role:
- Supervise the planning, coordination and implementation of hospice services from Intake through Admissions and Emory IPU.
- Oversees accurate and timely assignment of admissions by the admissions supervisor.
- Manages the relationship with Emory IPU team to foster positive outcomes for patients in the IPU.
- Participate and provide leadership in the team for regular interdisciplinary group meetings for IPU; the development, review, and revision of the patient/family plan of care.
- Facilitation of problem-solving sessions and delivery of team support.
- Implement and monitor compliance with policies and procedures.
- Serve as a member of the management team ensuring accurate information gathered and shared by intake; timely, efficient admissions of patients to hospice services.
- Addresses problems associated with the delivery of services and staff development needs, to put forth suggestions for appropriate additions/changes in policies and procedures and to give peer input to enhance and improve the management function.
- Supervise the maintenance of medical records assuring accuracy, timeliness and completeness ensuring compliance with licensing regulations, certification standards, legal and ethical standards.
- Provide supervision of support and clerical staff in cooperation with other members of the management team.
- Oversee clinical supervision of nursing personnel and intake team.
- Conduct appropriate supervisory visits which allow for clinical observation of performance of assigned team members.
- Provide information for inclusion in written performance evaluations for all staff assigned to team in cooperation with appropriate members of the management team.
- Provide leadership and counsel to nursing and personnel to measurably enhance staff development.
- Identify need for staff education and assist in the development of Inservice programs for interdisciplinary group.
- Assist in education/training programs.
- Participate in orientation of new personnel as appropriate to team responsibilities.
- Perform specific assignments as directed by the Chief Clinical Officer.
- Regularly assesses and reassesses the nursing needs of the Hospice patient.
- Provides Hospice nursing services, treatments, and preventive procedures.
- Teach, supervise and counsel the Hospice patient and family members about providing care for the patient.
- Performs specific nursing procedures as needed (e.g., treatments, management of symptoms) following doctor’s orders.
- Observes confidentiality and safeguards all patient-related information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Always communicates to the Chief Clinical Officer if unable to meet a patient's needs or perform a procedure.
- Participates in on-call system and is responsible for providing on-call coverage when regular staff are unavailable for assigned duties.
- Maintain skills and knowledge.
- Participates in QAPI program.
- Must be able to provide services to patients as the Hospice RN due to the absence of the Hospice RN when no other substitute is available to oversee the patient care.
Requirements
Candidate must meet the following requirements to be considered:
- Graduate from accredited school of nursing.
- Currently licensed as a registered nurse to practice in the state.
- Proven hospice leadership & management experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a registered nurse.
- Minimum 2 years of hospice experience to include RN Case Management.
- Admissions and IPU experience preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of the regulatory guidelines governing hospice admissions.

Working Conditions:
- Essential functions of the position require working in an office setting with exposure to lighting and heating/air systems.
- In the event of functioning as the substitute for the Hospice RN must be able to tolerate exposure to elements including, but not limited to, odors, blood, body fluids and excrement, adverse environmental conditions and hazardous materials.
Transportation:
Must have current valid driver's license, auto liability insurance and reliable transportation.
