JOB SUMMARY:
The Sitter provides direct, continuous observation to patients under the direction of registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN).
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide patient care under the direction of the registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN), which may include but is not limited to:
- Direct observation of the patient at all times
- Assisting patients to the bathroom
- Removing items from the room that might be used by the patient to harm themselves
- Assisting the patient with meals/feeding
- Communicates frequently with the patient care team to report concerns, provide update on patient status, or obtain direction for assisting the patient with care needs
- Conveys compassion, empathy, and understanding to the patient without offering personal judgment or opinions.
- Protects patients and team members by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols
- Documents patient care services timely and accurately
- Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential
- Apply DRH Standards of Behavior and exhibit behaviors consistent with DRH core values.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Physical Demands: (e.g., lifting, standing, walking) This position requires lifting up to and greater than 100 pounds including up to 20 pounds overhead; push/pull 40 pounds or more force; standing for long periods of time; frequent walking; occasional sitting, stooping, kneeling or crouching; occasional use of fine motor skills; visual acuity.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to equipment with moving parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
It can be reasonably anticipated that Occupational Exposure may occur. Occupation Exposure is defined as reasonably anticipated skin, eye mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials, including airborne organisms that may result from the performance of a team member’s duties.
The team member will be given the proper training, engineering and workplace practice controls, and personal protective equipment necessary for reasonable protection from these exposures.
Qualifications
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifications: Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English. Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive/email, navigate information technology associated with the position, use Electronic Health Record information tools.
Education and/or Experience: Experience in healthcare related position preferred.
