Simmons Homes, LLC is a locally owned homebuilding and real estate company in Owasso, Oklahoma.  We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support the CFO and oversee accounting operations across multiple business entities.


This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented accounting professional with a strong background in construction accountingjob cost reportingintercompany activity, and financial statement preparation. The Assistant Controller will help direct the accounting team, ensure accuracy across all ledgers, and assist in driving process and reporting improvements.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee daily accounting operations for multiple related entities (homebuilding, commercial development and construction, residential rentals, and multifamily properties)
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Assist in direction and review the work of accounting team members to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely completion of tasks
  • Manage general ledger activity, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and adjustments
  • Oversee job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and construction project financial performance tracking
  • Ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of intercompany transactions
  • Assist the CFO with financial analysis, cash management, and forecasting
  • Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax professionals, and lenders as needed
  • Support implementation and integration of accounting software systems across entities
  • Provide training and mentorship to accounting staff to develop team capability


Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required (CPA or CPA-track preferred); 7–12 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior accounting role; Experience in construction industry accounting, real estate development, or property management required; Solid understanding of job cost reporting, WIP schedules, and intercompany reconciliations; Experience with various accounting software helpful; Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability; Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills; Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal control best practices.


Schedule:

Full-time, Monday through Friday 8-5pm (seasonal minimal overtime as needed)
