Juvenile Therapist - Texas Correctional Office on Offenders with Medical or Mental Impairments (TCOOMMI)
Role Responsibilities
The TCOOMMI Juvenile Therapist provides direct services to youth diagnosed with a severe and persistent mental illness who are involved with the Fort Bend County Juvenile Probation Department. The candidate will assess mental health symptoms, needs and strengths of youth and their families, the complications of involvement with the juvenile justice system and develop appropriate treatment interventions to include skills training, cognitive-behavioral therapy, medication training and support, crisis management, and case management and coordination. The individual will be responsible for intake, the development of appropriate person centered recovery plans, case plans, and the delivery of appropriate services for the needs of the youth and family. The individual must have the ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team within a multi-faceted mental health/juvenile justice delivery system. The individual will be responsible for ensuring accurate data entry and reporting. The desired candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm, flexibility, well developed organizational skills, self-discipline, responsibility for own production, and performance. The position reports to the TCOOMMI Team Leader at the Behavioral Healthcare Clinic in Rosenberg. The position is full time, 40 hours per week. The individual will provide intensive home-based and school based services. The person will work a flexible schedule requiring evening sessions with youth and their families. Travel is required. Responsible and accountable for the adherence to and promotion of compliance policy.
Salary
- Fully Licensed LPHA:
90% $73,123.27 /year to start
95% $77,185.68 /year at 6 months with satisfactory performance
100% $81,248.08 /year at one year with satisfactory performance
Required Education and/or Certifications, Experience, Skills
- LPHA – meets Texas requirements as a Licensed Professional of the Healing Arts (LPC, LCSW)
- Or if Intern license, must be fully licensed as a LPHA within 6 months of being hired
- Texas driver’s license in good standing as defined by Texana Center’s procedure
- CBT certified or obtain within 6 months of employment
- Two years of work experience providing direct services within a Behavioral Health or Social Service setting and criminal justice
Preferred Education and/or Certifications, Experience, Skills
- Trauma Informed Care
- Motivational Interviewing
- Criminal Justice or court experience
- Three years of work experience providing direct services within a Behavioral Health or Social Service setting and criminal justice
- Spanish speaking
Job Related Physical Requirements
- Must be able to perform SAMA and CPR
- Must be able to perform moderate lifting and carrying (15-44#), pushing, stooping, repeated bending, reaching above shoulder, simple grasping, hearing, walking, sitting and twisting
- Must have ability to see, write, operate office equipment, operate a motor vehicle and have depth perception
