Schulz Electric, a Timken Motor & Services Company, has a current opening for a Project Engineer based out of East Haven, CT regional service center. The primary role of this position is to provide the project management and technical leadership, for the overhaul, rewind, and manufacture of Electric Motors/Generators and other electrical power transmission equipment. This position reports to the Schulz Engineering & Quality Assurance Manager. The incumbent at times will be involved with the reverse engineering and design as required. The incumbent provides technical evaluations to support customer quotation requests and works with all members of the site team to achieve promised on-time delivery commitments and financial objectives. Occasional travel required (<10%) to customer sites and periodic company training events
As a Project Engineer, the incumbent will blend hands-on technical expertise with project management to deliver exceptional engineered solutions. Responsibilities include:
- Lead technical assessments and drive repair scopes by diagnosing failure modes.
- Spearhead engineering initiatives, including reverse engineering and design upgrades that open new aftermarket opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—Operations, Quality, Sales, and Supply Chain—to ensure projects meet demanding specifications, timelines, and budgets.
- Develop and implement standards that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements (including EASA, IEEE, and nuclear specifications).
- Oversee winding, assembly, and product testing to guarantee the highest quality and on-time delivery.
- Contribute to Schulz’s global engineering efforts, enhancing innovation and customer satisfaction.
- Engage with customers and internal stakeholders, providing clear technical guidance and status reporting.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in engineering, project management and/or AC and DC Electric Motor & Control
- Skilled in all basic MS Office products
- Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and organization
- Ability to work as part of a team and the ability to interact with all levels of customers and internal support teams
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
- Strong systemic mindset and problem-solving skills
- Strong analytical skills including the ability to analyze and interpret critical data
- Experience in the manufacturing sector preferred
